I went to the dyno today and I was wayyyyy lean (16) until about 3.5k, I've heard its a really bad idea to add fuel before this point, so what do i do? I have an SAFC and MAFT, no i do not have a fuel pressure regulator and no i wouldnt like to buy one, what are my options?

Btw, the dyno read much leaner than my wideband was reading, whats up with that? I am catless.

OK.

I guess lets start with the MAF-T. How did you go about setting it up when you got it? Are you sure you have the settings right?

Lets see, with MAFT I set the base to the correct injector size, made sure my Vf's were in the 2.25 range at idle, took it out cruising, monitored the Vf's again, adjusted accordingly, and then adjusted WOT with the wideband. The thing thats weird, is the A/f drops down to exactly where it should be, but it does it like 600 RPM's too late, and I dont think i could correct that with the AFPR, thats another reason why I dont want to get one. Where should is start to correct this? With the Mid throttle on the maft?

you say you set to correct injector size- what would that be?

bob told me when using the afc w/ the maft it was best to set the inj sizing at 440cc and pretty much zero all the settings.

also, there is nothing wrong w/ adding fuel above or below a certain point. if you are adding an excessive amount, then that means you need to address something else in the fuel system.

i agree an afpr might be a good idea. i def dont like to take any chances w/ the fuel system.

I have the MAFT set to 550's, and I might as well not have an SAFC because its zeroed out across the board. I even tried adding some fuel in on the dyno and it seemed to do nothing even at +12 (just to give it a shot).

My other option is to take it to someone to tune it out for me on the dyno, is that an option?

I understand that there is probably something wrong if i'm having to add a large amount of fuel, but i heard that just adding fuel before 3k, i believe, will mess up your base maps or something like that? hmm who knows.

ive been tuning a long time and have never seen adding or subtracting fuel at any point a problem.
what i would do i set the maft back to 440cc and go from there. i had mine set on 440cc even w/ 680cc inj.

like i have said before, x-man is in va and runs a dyno center (CWF dyno services). he is the only guy i would trust to tune my car besides myself.

i think he may be 2hrs or so from you but might be worth the trip.

yea, 3 hrs, i talked to him about his dyno services but he never mentioned that they could do tuning, I didnt ask because i felt like i'd be hastling him, but i guess it couldnt hurt.

oh, and you dont have an issue running lean with it set on 440's?..derr.. or would that make it run rich? bah, too early.

yes, rich not lean. i then adjusted base fuel pressure down and then tune w/ the afc.

the thing that i dont get is why my A/f's dont drop down to rich until 4k rpms, what is responsable making the A/f's go rich, i would say the ECU basemap, but that would mean it would drop around 2.7k rpms.

they have some adj FPR for like $39 bucks

very bad idea to trust your motor to a $39 piece of equipment... just get a good one, like an aeromotive or an SX.

I'll try the 440's setting tonight
i'm running zeitronix wideband.

i can post the dyno sheet if anyone wants to see what i'm working with.
