leaky fuel tank plug

as the title says. i drained the tank to get rid of old gas, put some more in it, got the car running, but the plug is leaky. its not a steady stream but i can put my finger on the plug and come up with a damp finger. i tried tightening it but still leaks. can i put some sort of sealant around the plug the make a better seal?

mine used to do that i used some ARP thread sealer at the shop i used to work at. not sure if it was a good choice but it stopped my leak

Just use a gasoline tank approved sealent on the threads and make double sure it doesn't leak or otherwise....kabooom!
