Long story short. I've been burning oil excessively over the last few months(1qt. every 600 miles) so i decided to get a leakdown test. cyl. 1 had a 25% leakdown coming from intake valve. Obvioulsy, i don't know the true cause of the valve damage.fortunately, 2-6 cyl. were no more than 8%. I was surprised as i thought the problem was most likely the rings(stock internals @ 125k, 25k boosted).
As far as the intake valve, what are some opinions on the best way to solve that(swap head, valve job, etc.)?

It seems that the primary oil leak is at the seal at the center housing assembly as a result of my turbo being clocked to fit new tubular manifold. As far as the leaking turbo, the shop said they can examine it but no guarantee it can be fixed.

My other concern is if i should be worry about damaging the engine any more if i continue to drive the car in vacuum/boost. After changing the plugs, the car seems to drive fine despite this issue. i have another vehicle to drive if need be. thanx for any input

I would say take it off the road for a little bit and get a valve job and valve steam seals. But this is coming from someone who hant driven their car in two years. I want everything done right and I dont want to have to worry about it. Since your turbo is on its way out too, take it off the road and do it right.

Are you sure your intake valve wasnt cracked open a little? you may wanna go back and redo cylinder 1... wouldnt hurt.

And if your plugs are covered in "fuzz" (burnt oil) then its your stem seals, but if your plugs are fine i would say your turbo needs a rebuild.

from the sounds of it its not a stock turbo is it?

i didn't do the test. i believe they checked cyl. 1 a few times to verify the result. I don't recall any of the plugs being oil fouled.
I actually have a lexus is300 2jzge na-t, so no its not stock turbo:nono:
It seems the oil leak from the turbo occurred when it was clocked to fit my new tubular manifold a few months ago. i guess i'll have a closer look at that first before a decision is made
