Laying the smackdown on a Honda Fanboy ;)

I really hate those types of questions. Anyone who would ask "I have $X.XXk and I would like something fast, cheap and reliable, what should I get?" should be shot. Almost any car can fit 2 of those requests, as someone on this thread so wisely stated. So really, it's like asking "Hey, what should I do to my Supra?" Well, um, drive it?
I own a Honda CRX *hangs head* But !! I'm selling it so I can mod my Supra Turbo! (thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week.) Either car can be fun to drive depending on your driving style, what you grew up with, and where you drive.
In closing, there are so many factors to play into a choice like that, making it impossible for someone else to make that choice for you with so little information. And you would have to write a 2 page explination to give enough info to have someone else make a choice for you. And even if you did that, people would have a different oppinion.
Drive what is fun to drive for you, and only take someone else's oppinion as a suggestion on what to try out. You might miss out on something you truely enjoy.

Well for the price a poorly running supra still owns 95% of honda and acura junk, anyone looking to build a car can see the power potential of a well done 7M or 1JZ engine at work, RWD, oh and style, as in not every 16 yr old rice bag owns one and they have some history, what does honda have a record of, well nothing unless its an NSX or S2000, and for the price of an NSX I'd rather go MK4, Z06 or maybe even an elise.

You know what $2000 got me? The car itself, 2 motors, coilovers, a cage, exhaust, fuel system, a 14b turbo setup, block guard, clutch and flywheel, FMIC, upgraded brakes and rear disc conversion, and everything I need to reflash the ECU. I well over doubled the stock power for chump change.
People need to realize that in good hands a honda is not some fucking rice box. Honda motors, despite their small displacement, have a lot of room for power increase. remember....9 and 10 second all-motor hondas exist. Not many large displacement big turbo supras see those numbers.
Someone says honda, and everyone thinks of some douche in a dx with 19" wheels, horrible body kit,an axle back exhaust, maybe a CAI, painted interior, monster tach, 35 shot of nitrous, etc. I think of a stock body hatch with a built 300hp NA b18c1, a quiet exhaust, stock interior.
Oh yeah....get over the omfgit'sFWD thing.

Ok, now that we're all calmed down, yes, when people think of Honda's they some times think of 16yo kids with hats on sideways, with 2 huge 12" in the back, 19" rims and sparks flying out from the back everytime there's a change in pavement. But that's a stereo-type.
I own a 13 second CRX. It looks bone stock on the outside. No painting, no wheels, no CF hood or body kit. Yes, they are cheap to mod, they are all over the place. But you have to understand something. Because they are cheaper, they tend to be bought by kids who don't have a lot of money, but want something "fast" or "sick". They use crappy parts and cheap mods, and it cheapens the Honda name.
Also understand this, this is a Supra forum. And even though you post some good arguments, you seem to have possiblly become upset at the response you got from this board. That should be understandable to you, and you should not take this as a personal attack. This is a Supra board. Not a Honda board. And I can post Honda stuff on here, just like anyone else, but prepare to get flamed. And please don't take it personally. Please!! It can't be personal, I don't even know you:icon_razz

Nah I don't get upset, though it may come off that way. I am by nature very defensive, and I do take offense at CONSTANT honda bashing. It doesn't make me angry, it's more like that fly that gets stuck in your supra...It's annoying as hell. you're constatly going "ERRRRRRG! GET OUT OF MY CAR JERKOFF! TOM ANGRY! TOM SMASH FLY!"

I have to agree, the problem with hondas is that distasteful mods are cheaper than tasteful real performance mods, even though the most expensive mod I have done was $200 for the turbo and a bunch of fuel stuff.
Ricers think "Hmm, what will make me look cooler to the 16y/o girls at my high school? An expensive turbo/swap? OR NEONS!!! YES! NEONS!"
Enthusiasts think "What will make my car run cooler at the track?"
Don't get me wrong guys, I love all my supras....I mean, right now I'm listening to "Turbo Lover" by Judas Priest. It's just that for 1/4th the money I have in the 87T, I am faster in autox and only .4 seconds slower in the 1/4 mile using my civic. I also get double the gas mileage to boot. LOL

Ok, I guess you can swap to turbo in the future, but then you might as well have bought one from the start and saved a bunch of time and money. The same problems that happen on a turbo will happen on an NA.
I would never consider buying an NA A70.
If it was between an NA A70 and a Civic, give me the civic. Gas mileage ftw.
