These are in regards to my swap and some of my last minute details..

1) we were planning on mounting the power steering cooler behind the FMIC, would this still provide the adequate efficiency needed to ease the stress on the pump? I am still unsure just how much of a cooling effect is needed to prolong the life the stock pump. Yes, I understand the jza70 had a line in a over under config running across the bumper support IIRC, so figuring that I suppose not a whole lot of cooling is needed, just some. Is this location enough of a problem to where I need to mount it horizontally underneath or rather in front instead?

2) when proceeding into the shop today I noticed that my friend had mounted my front mount in a raked fashion, via the same fashion as the stock core. I have noticed going through threads and such that most mount them full 90 degrees. this is more of just perception, but I was curious to know if there is
any benefit or side effect from doing so.. I figured it may be slightly better as the air passing through the cooler may have more of a tendency to direct itself into the radiator via the fan pulling air vs. the angle of the core. of course im just throwing what may be nonsense out there. so the question remains whether theres any benefit to raking the core, because it tends to look a bit odd with the bumper on IMO.

3) what is the design advantage of a coupler that has the semi-circular arc in the center? do they help reduce wear due to engine movement?..

I pay extremely high attention to detail being that I'm as meticulous as I am and thats how I manage to make something simple into a big deal, thanks for the help guys.

i would mount it in front, if behind i would use a fan or heck even mount it under the foglight with a fan.

i mounted mine the same way as the stock IC too. was more for fitment issues since i wouldnt have to cut anything.

the hump hose? i used mine for better fitment on parts (mainly to the compressor housing, the cold side i made it non moveable as possible so it wouldnt hit the radiator/serp belt/pulleys)

I use a 7m stock oil cooler and mounted right above the fmic. Air passes through the grille and cools it, perfect fit and the 7m oil cooler works a lot better than the stock jza70 cooler. Oh if you want to prolong the life of the stock pump I recommend to install a magnefine filter. I did ... :icon_bigg

thanks guys, i suppose ill have them mount my power steering in front of the FMIC or to the side behind the fog.. and install a magnefine filter like OJS.

and if you mount your FMIC like that tlo, then thats good enough for me.

forgot to chime in that i mounted my p/s cooler above my intercooler - where the air comes in the front grille. i plan on sticking it near the fogs though :)
