it dispays the weird looking avatar or what ever its called, but when I click on it, it just comes up a blank screan an reads

" no preview available "

I wanted to save a few pics of my supra from the site to a flash drive so I can show a few guys at work my ride....

The computer works the exact same wherever you are. Find the pic on the site here, right click, Save Picture As, select the target directory (where you wanna save) and click Save. There, its on your HD.

Did the files actually get save and you just can't view them then? Have you tried opening them with a different program? I'm assuming by 'avatar' you mean 'icon'.

Oh yeah, and don't use AOL, it sucks.

yes I mean, a icon, , sorry, brain fart.
yes I know aol does suk, I only use it when i go out of state for work an aol offers x amount of moths free, , so why not while I'm away working.

it /I go through the prompts to save it. the usual right click an save as is etc to wherever i want it to go, after I save the pic whether its cars, porn, or whatever , the icon will be there, but some pics just airnt there.

I have tried to open the pic/file with other programs, but its just not there..
like I said b4, some pics will be able to view, while others will open but only to see a whit screne with the words,

" preview not available "

yea they did a study of the Aumulated IQ for all AOL users and it was 10. and it sounds like your laptop is trying to use an imcompatable program to view the Pics IE its trying to use a program that doesnt understand what the file type the pics are saved as.

Try this for images that aren't working:
Right click the icon, click properties, see what the file size is. If its 0, then there's no pic. Also, check what file type it is. If its anything other than standard GIF, BMP, JPEG then I doubt Windows Pic & Fax viewer can read it. And i don't think WP&F Viewer displays animated GIF's either.
Also, it could be that some of the pics you saved were only links, not actual files.

Oh, thanks JAV, that made me notice something. If you're downloading porn, think about this for a minute. Those "free sites" have NO benefit to pay models money to strip, then pay hosting fees, then post em up for you to look at. So there's a GREAT chance that those pics that aren't there are really not those harmless looking JPEG files w/ gorgeous ladies, but phishing files, or other forms of security compromises.

Inside of AOL. There should be a button or menu up at the top that says "Settings." I haven't seen or used an AOL environment in a few years so I can't really be sure.

Here is a screenshot I found of what the settings menu might look like on 9.0:

Somewhere in that window there should be a "Preferences" link. I'm just assuming, though. This is all going to be different depending on what version of AOL you have, but I really think this .art thing is your problem.

Ah, ^ he just solved the problem: You're using the AOL Interface...

Once you connect w/ AOL, minimize the interface and use Firefox (or IE or w/e you use-but Firefox wins).
AOL UI sucks. I didn't know you were actually using their browser when you did that.

And, there is still the possibility of them not being pictures at all.
Go to Symantec/Norton's site and do a full system scan, see if you let anything on there. If the pictures are saved as JPEG, then its not the '.art' program, unless something in your AOL sys is corrupted and not converting them properly....
