if it wasn't done correctly the first time they are obligated in my books to take it back and do it ASAP regardless of other workloads... it will take like 1 hour of work. As for your timing cover it should be on the motor when done... sounds a little scarry.

I come from a land down under
Justin: If they're being lazy and doing their setup with the block sitting on the pan rails I can see it being an issue.

It "should" be set on the main tunnels for an accurate job.

just show up with your block one day unannounced and say you are leaving it there to be fixed + machined with the front cover on and you expect it back in a week.

i planned on doing it that way boltz! lol
I know its some damn old school machine. The shop I planned on going to had this fancy new machine that got things super smooth. aluminum head surfaces almost looked polished afterwards. Too bad they got washed out.

well lets see how they do this next time around. So all i hope to do next time is just lap the block lightly. Like i said it didnt take much for me to get it smooth but i was told that given a few hours depending on how bad the pitting is that I can get that out.
I'll keep everyone updated

The timing cover could be easily shaved down with a belt sander. You are supposed to use a little rtv on the top of the cover and if you are carefull it will come out fine. A tiny bit low is better then a little high. Do it off the engine obviously, and do a little at a time till it is the same level as the block.

The best machine to surface Supra parts is a CBN type machine. If they don't have that I would go somewhere else.
