Hey guys, its your friendly neighborhod noob here! Jus wanna start this post with a thank you to you guys for givin me the strength to replace my own clutch master and slave cylinder and recommending driftmotion for great products and service..

anyway I love my supra, love it. but I'm mega anal over it, its my only car and i'm more and more certain the fuckin car hates me.

its latest lil stint is that its not pullin as hard as it should used to be.

its something i noticed earlier this week.

i went to autozone to try to pick up one of those ODB1 thingys to check for codes but I didnt know that if your check engine light isnt on in the first place than your not gonna throw any codes if you test it (or thats what my mechanic said)

so my question is what can I can do to get my white stallion back

heres some context : '90 supra 5 spd turbo ( rebuilt ct-26 and hg job and valve job)

thanks so much guys

Ugh. Lies....

K, first of all, we need to clarify something: These are Supras. They ALL hate us. We don't know why. Perhaps they simply don't like the human species because of the designers specifying wrong torque for the head gasket, but nevertheless they hate us.

Now, on to your questions:

You CAN be throwing codes WITHOUT the CEL (check engine light) on.
You don't really need a reader, you can check them on your own.
(Here's How) - Its really really easy.
Maybe Vacuum leak also?

Check all vacuum lines.
Check your intercooler pipes, especially the IC pipe that goes to your IC to your turbo as that takes most of the beating because of the heat; bend them and see of they crack. iF they do have cfracks replace them, either find some stock ones for cheap that are in good condition on SM or local or invest in aluminum hardpipes.

ok I will try that, I'm not too sure what to look for when u say vacuum lines, but from what i can tell theres no cracks in any of the rubber hoses.

also, thanks so much for that makeshift method on checking codes with a paperclip it worked great and threw no codes

still hoping to figure this one out though...

till then...im goin to hot import nights biaa

I don't know how big of a leak you need to set 34, but that is correct.

Just "do it yourself" isn't exactly good advice. Read all the horror stories here of people that can't figure out basic things.

Just not pulling as hard as it used to, isn't much of a symptom, but is more of a condition of people becoming used to something. I haven't seen your car, so I don't know for certain.

And the Supra doesn't hate its owners, only certain ones.

Boost leak tester: www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html
Remove the rubber coupler between the 3000 pipe and the TB. They crack, but don't show evidence until you take them off and then you'll see.

Thanks johnathan1 for the descriptive picture :D

air temperature can affect how your car runs if it is warmer out it won't have as much power and can explain a lack of power.

^^very true!
Does it act up in cold or warmer temps!
When i had a boost leak it only acted up when it was cold, when it was warm/hot hardly noticable under boost.

Just because you've only got 1000 miles in the new gasket doesn't mean it could have already blown. My cousin blew his about 300 after the new one was put in due to improper prep work and attention to details.

But that's neither here, nor there, I still don't think it's BHG that you have ;).

Ok and the receipt reads and I quote

"Found no signs of vac. leak or external boost leak. Boost leak most possibly caused by factory B.O.V. due to being aged and worn causing internal leak"

It was the BOV eh?

Well I guess Ill go buy the HKS copy off driftmotion for $65?

Thoughts?

Help?!?!

replace the BOV. As you get used to driving the car it will feel slower even though it isnt. As stated before the recent rise in temp in the bay will also steal some power. I also had the same thing psyche me out a few times even though my car was fine i was lookin for problems.
