i have the two knock sensors but either the wires for them were cut off the harness or they just weren't there. i got some clips and wires coming, but is that going to affect how it runs without those installed? i'm gonna probably re-wire them in, but i'm just curious if it's gonna affect initial start up at all?

any help on that would be awesome...

thanks!

The car will start and run w/ no KS's. You probably won't be able to set timing properly, as when the ECU detects no signal from the KS's it retards the timing. But you can start and idle it fine. It'll drive too, just rich and powerless.

Lets just say that mine, with a code 52 (= knock sensor wiring problem), got pulled by a stock SOHC 240sx. haha

pretty easy, if you can run gauges you can run the wires to the KS. I don't recommend this, but I wired both my KS on the ecu side together, and ran a single wire out to the rear KS. No problems

Super easy: http://www.supras.com/06/techcenter/display.php?QID=69

Rewire both. Use two separate wires. However, do NOT ground the harness on both sides. Ground it ONLY on the ECU side under the dash!

Thats the one i used, perfect; but i did the two into one for the GE block GTE ECU. i grounded both sides no prob, why ony ground one side??

Two into one is fine if you are only running one knock sensor, or if it's a bandaid until you fix a broken KS. Two into one is not a permanent solution for a block with two KS locations, and the ECU that corresponds. ;)

Ground one side only. Research: Ground Loops. Not that it'll make a huge difference in this application, but it's good common electrical practice NOT to have ground loops. :)

Oh no dont get y wrong if i had a GTE block i would run both- but not an option right now.

as for the grounds isn't this a little bit different, aren't both ends grounded to avoid interference, i grounded both sides, one under the dash by the ecu, and the other by the KS. Code went away, seems fine. i'll check out these Ground Loops after skool.

You can solder it back together. For the small amount of time and money it takes to completely rewire both sensors (if you have two), I'd just do a rewire. But if you'd rather just solder it back together, go for it! :)

i wasnt sure, i have heard that if there was a break in the wire u have to rewire it or it wont work, or work at all cuz it was some kind of special wire, what wire should i use and where to get it from

I use rg58 coax cable, but there are a wide variety of wires that are acceptable. Also, read the link that I posted above. :)
