I figured I'd let the forum know that I did the knock sensor rewire and my car is running ridiculously great! i had CEL code 52 and my car used to fall on it's face after it went into boost and struggled to rev anywhere past 4500 rpm. Not anymore! I did the rewire according to http://oldschool.supracentral.com/htm/knock.htm#rewire I used the existing connectors, used RG59 cable vs RG58 (couldn't find any RG58 locally without ordering online) soldered all wires and grounded them in the engine bay side only. The car runs excellent now. Just wanted to give a shot out to everyone who has done a knock sensor rewire and posted or posted pictures on how to do it. That is the only reason i was able to do this.

well if you have a code 52 you have and your car is running like crap it takes your car out of limp mode. the rewire allows the spark timing to advance more vs keeping it retarded to prevent detonation/knock since the ecu is now getting a signal. like i said my car was struggling to go past 4500 rpm since the spark wasnt advancing before the rewire. had no clue that the two (knock sensors and the car falling on it's face) had anything to do with each other. i thought i had a rediculous boost leak or something. if anyone else cares to add on or give a more in-depth explanation, the floor is yours!

there was a post somewhere(here or SF) where the OP said he had a DYNO PROVEN 70hp after doing the rewire. i could see a few hp since your not running limp dick...er, i mean mode. but 70?

yeah 70 seems like a little much but whatev

Rewiring the knock sensors on a properly functioning system won't net you any gains at all. If that dude put his car on a dyno with code 52 then I could see losing a massive amount of power. I mean, the timing retards a full 10° when code 52 is set in an effort to prevent detonation.

Code 52 makes your car hate boost. While I am not aware of a horsepower figure that could be gained from rewiring a faulty system, 10° of timing makes a huge difference.

I have two supras both have a had code 52 one i rewired was always on the other one is weird it shows up on really cold days maybe 5 times a year only and goes away once warm i turn it off restart and it's gone and runs great again. I even turn it off while driving, once warm i engage clutch turn key off (not completely just enough to were engine shuts off) turn key to on (do not crank the starter) pop clutch up engine starts smoothly and code is gone car runs great again. Anyone else experienced the same problem?
