Knock Sensor Conversion?

Hey guys,

I searched but couldn't find out what I was looking for. I was recently throwing a code 52 and looking into the rewire but came across something kinda silly.

Apparently, someone figured the 7M knock sensors were so weak, that the GM knock sensors are a better replacement. So they created a conversion for the stock 7M knock sensor.

It included something to screw into the original place for the 7M knock sensor that would accomodate the GM knock sensor.

Has anyone else run across this??

Thanks

_Ian

battle creek, eh? not too far away...

it sounds like you're talkin about some of the knock gauges out there that use GM sensors.

there's nothing wrong w/the stock sensors, other than age.

Thanks Doc.

I figured I would just do the rewire and call it good.

Yeah, I noticed that you were near AND knew how to tune a SAFC. Looking for some help on that when I get around to installing it.

Thanks Again.

word.... a knock sensor is a knock sensor... its just a pizeoelectric device. one cant really be "better" then another.

get new ones if you are that worried about them.

not necessarily true. diff KS are tuned to diff frequencies for diff engines....

yeah i guess i could see that....i would still think most KS's will create SOME amount of voltage with a "noise".... i guess the severity of it would be the difference.

good point though adam.

www.atsracing.com i believe is where you want to go. they origionally created the adaptors for use in the mr2 and we found they could be used in our cars also. as before mentioned the KS arent usually the problem, its the cooked wiring (thats what mine was just fyi)
