i did some reserch and they dont have any nerves on the scruff (back of neck) .so it would be possible to put a hook through with out the cat reacting .they simply cant feel it . its like poking cristopher reves legs with a stick no feeling. im still not saying that vid is real but it debunks that part.

Boy, that's bullshit.

I've worked as a vet tech. Stick 'em with a needle for shots. They feel it.

oh then all the other people in the first 2 pages worth of google searching for (scruff of the neck cat) must be full of shit .cause most of them were vet's not vet's asistants ,and they disagre stating that not only can they not feel it but that it basicaly causes temporary paralysis.

Gosh you are both right.... how's that?!?!

Particularly, as the animal ages and gets larger, it should not be lifted off the ground using only its scruff because the heavy weight of the rest of the body will cause excess strain on the loose skin and may be painful.

They don't feel pain when lifted by the scruff of the neck... but it can get more painful as they mature if you don't know what you're doing. And yes it does paralyze them to a certain extent for a certain amount of time just like dogs and bunnies.

BUT lifting a cat up by the scruff and poking a bigass hook thru that area is a little bit different imo.

Wills and Wolf note that pain in cats is indicated by the behavioural response (the cat tries to escape the stimulus or tries to bite the hand that is pinching it) rather than by the reflex response (e.g. a jerking limb if the toe is pinched). The fact that the cat reacts by aggression towards the person/object causing pain demonstrates that is has conscious perception of pain rather than displaying a simple reflex action. However the more solitary feline social system means that cats tend to hide physical or emotional pain in order to mask vulnerability

Guess we will never know the truth......

Mind posting links to said info?? I call bullshit.

Personally I really don't see the difference between a cat and a rodent...we feed rodents to snakes and it's not considered cruel...I don't see why we can't use cats as bait or food...why can't large snake owners go to the ASPCA and get the cats that are going to be put down and feed them to his snakes?? I personally would never have a problem with it...all animals in my mind are equal...some animals are more pet worthy but doesn't make them special.

I don't agree with tortureing animals but I don't see why killing a cat is such a big deal...and I certainly don't agree with animals haveing humanlike rights...torture is bad but I don't believe people who dog fight deserve the same prison sentence as a serial killer!

Where I come from if a dog or cat gets some sort of disease that can't be cured we take it out back and then get another..
