A guy I work with has an '03 RSX with the following mods: cold air intake, coilovers, very nice tires. That's it. We've messed around a couple of times on the way home, but this morning we met up on the way in and nobody on the road.

The race started from a slow rolling start as we turned onto the 2 lane road we work on, me in the lead and he was the first to hit it. I pulled a little in first gear even though I broke loose a little, good shift into second, but then he started pulling on me and by the time I was into third he was pulling up alongside me. My hand slipped off the shifter pulling into 4th, but by then it was over because a car came around the corner about a 1/4 mile up and he had to drop back. Fact is, I think we would've had me unless things started going better for me in 4th gear and over 80 mph. :3d_frown: RSX's don't put down the most power, but they must be light.

So here's where I stand these days: Dynoed at 213 whp last week at 11 psi and pig rich, stock CT26 & IC, 3" turbo elbow, dp, and high flow cat, 2.5" flowmaster muffler, APEXi Power Intake, MBC, worn out shitty tires I bought used a year ago. This will be done again with better results after I buy my SAFC!!!!

I agree, Doc. My a/f dropped below 13 at 2500 rpm, less than 12 at 3000 and continued to drop to 10. That's a big part of it, hence the SAFC. I have never done a compression test, but I am seriously concerned that there might be a problem there...

3 liter turbo rwd car got beat by a 2.0 liter fwd honda with 10hp worth of add on mods?

Sorry to be the asshole, but that's just funny. I'd sell my car if I had a 3.0 liter turbo car making 213whp with mods. Sorry to say, but that RSX probably makes more and it's just as heavy as your supra.

there is a bigger problem I think.. My 7m made 256 @ 10 psi with a 10.0 a/f 3" exhaust (no cat though) and a filter.. and it was 104* when I dynoed..

Funny? I guess so, but it suggests to me that I need to work out the a/f ratio issues I now know that I have. I could shoot myself or work out an addressable issue. I think I'll work it out and save a bullet.

BTW, RSX makes 160 hp and weighs 1000 lbs less than my MKIII, which puts the wt/hp difference less than 0.5.

Temp was 96 at the dyno. I think there's a possibility that my timing isn't perfect, but I still wonder about compression. My question is whether an a/f ratio of 10-11 through most of the powerband is enough to give me the numbers I got? BTW, torque looked pretty good at 264 ft-lbs.

I will post up my dyno sheet tonight, since I can't do it from work.

You got beat by a non type-s? FYI, they weigh 2700 and some change.

I had an 02' rsx type-s with a greddy turbo kit/greddy FMIC with full 3'' exhaust and put down 267whp at 7psi. I ran a 14.1 @103. Ended up blowing the stock clutch on the next run. The traction was shit on that thing.

One interesting thing about my numbers is that another MKIII with a little more boost and similar mods ran about 8 hp less than that. The dyno operator remembered doing one a couple of years ago and pulled that chart; results were the same. If it weren't for Tissmo's post, I would say that it is just a stock ecu and running rich issue. I will need to check compression soon. Fingers crossed...

what kind of dyno? your torque seems about right, I made 275 ftlbs. Maybe the 2.5" flowmaster is really causing some big backpressure up top? Check your timing as well, if its pulling some it would expain the low hp.

what do similarly modded rxs's trap 95 mph? fwiw the mods I had i trapped 99-100 mph.. I guess if you add the restriction of the cat and the 2.5" catback then its probably close..

Bone stock with a CAI:
190whp
150lb torque.

The type-s has about 170whp and about 130whp stock. With an cold air intake, maybe 185whp tops.

At any rate, it was probably an even race since Shytheed has 213whp and weighs about 700 lbs more.
