Keeping everything chilly mac: Is this overkill?

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 7MGTE, and want to know if my cooling solution is a bit overkill. I'm in Southern California to give you all an idea of how high the temperatures are that I'm dealing with.

My plan is a DriftMotion IC kit, a new OEM fan clutch, brand new hoses all around, and hopefully a vented hood to get rid of excess heat from the top of the engine. The engine specs include a stock rebuild of the bottom end and head and a 57 trim CT26 at 14 p.s.i. (if this helps).

Ceramic coating on exhaust mani. Put a bag on the hot site of compressor wheel. I dont have any statisitcs to back it up, but just from my hand and touch, I can tell you it makes a world of difference.

a thermostat that opens at earlier temps i believe stock opt temp is 196F dont go below 180f and make sure all ur fans work !! i live on south florida so i new a few things of heat lol

Use a 80C thermostat as the lowest. Do not go lower than that. Make sure your fan clutch is good as well, if not, Google how to rebuild it, it is just really the changing of the fluid inside.

Vented hood isn't needed. I see no mention of a fan shroud, so I'll mention it (yes it's important). Also making sure all the plastic air guides up front are in place. When you remove the radiator and intercooler, clean the A/C condenser really well.

Skip the lower temp t-stat (it's pointless), and are you replacing the radiator?

Ya use the factory 190* t stat. Get a nice big alum rad and your set.

Ya poodles whats up with that bro. LOL Ya 190 with a nice rad will work just fine as long as you have followed all the other correct steps to building your engine.

Do you have the exhaust manifold heat shields? Including the little one up front between the manifold and the 90 degree hose?

Even a good factory replacement radiator would be fine. You're replacing everything else in the system, might as well replace the one thing that actually does the cooling...

Thank you for the input, more stuff to add to the list! I have no idea how I let the radiator and fan shroud skip my mind, so I'll definitely be picking new OEM units up. As far as the fans go, I know a lot of 240 guys run the bigger Taurus fans so I think I'll do that as well since it will be the most cost effective choice.

Stock mechanical fan works perfectly fine, no need to mess with it. Shroud is a dealer only item (if you have one that's in good shape, no reason to replace). As for the radiator, there are upgraded units that cost a bit more than an OEM units, just shop around

Im running a Taurus fan and its amazing! However I upgraded my alternator to a high amperage one to cope with the extra draw, Best thing I have ever done to my cooling system! I had a shrouded clutch fan with new radiator and was slightly overheating in the summer time (117F with the A/C on) At long stop lights I would boil coolant out..

With the Taurus fan on high it pulls about 48 Amps so a bigger alternator is needed! Do the wiring right it helps a lot with properly setup relays and such!

The Taurus fan is a perfect fit, with less than 1/4 inch away from the water pump pulley.. Make sure your motor mounts are good

A properly working fan clutch with the GTE blade, a fan shroud and an aluminum radiator will last you in those 117F with the A/C on. Clutch fan wins any and everyday.

I do all of that with an OEM radiator, I can beat on my car all day in the summer with the A/C on, Never gets above 200F.. Mostly hovers around 185F

I have a good working stock fan, koyo radiator and ceramic coated turbo and down pipe. I did about 20 dyno pulls making almost 500whp in phoenix when it was 115 outside and about 120 inside the shop. and never went over 200 degrees. although my bumper did catch fire due to lack of air flow..lol

I just bought a CXRacing Aluminum Radiator and i am not sure if the stock fan works with it?
