Hi everyone,

I just need to know if I can put a jzx90 wireharness onto a jza70?
Like are all the engine sensors compatible?? I'm thinkin they are but need to know for sure before I spend money.

Reasons: jza70's seem to be more rare and read somewhere that the jzx90's ecu is a bit stronger....???

Oh yah it an auto... Thanks!!

The engine and sensors are all the same.

The body harness plugs and Ecu plugs are different.

So you will need a chaser/soarer Ecu to go with the harness.

The X90 harness is not all that difficult , you will need to make a some connections . The x90 harness only comes with two of the four plugs. You can get the plugs from drift motion for 9 bucks each. You will have to run five wires from the fuse box area to the ecu. B+, B1, Mrel, Batt, and charge light. I side you will have to run some wires from the B plugs to the new ecu plugs.the biggest pita is the fuel pump. The x90 has an ecu in the trunk to control the fuel pump. I just by passes them entire system and ran the fuel pump off of a five pin relay triggered by the ING switch.

I am putting this into a truck and really not worried about the dash or fuel pump for that matter cuz I'll just hook that up to a switch.
All i want pretty much is to have the ECU run the engine. As for water temps, oil pressure, AFRs, EGTs etc I plan to hook up aftermarket gauges for that.

Now that I know the engine senors are compatible, what about the auto trans side?? Will the plugs be the same between the za70 and x90??

Hope I didnt sound tooo stupid...??? Thanks Everyone!!!

If this isn't going into a Supra, it really makes no difference, in fact the JZX harness might be better because I believe it has all of the ECU connectors on the engine harness versus the JZA harness which has one ECU connector in the dash harness.

Good luck. :)

Yeah, there are four plugs this is what I used from my MA to Jzx90 swapImageUploadedByTapatalk1364354386.657393.jpg
The two circled plugs are the ones that are part of the engine harness. The other two you won't get. As you can see they are not all that nessacary unless you are going do a illy functioning car. I kept te2 and E1 on a toggle so I coul pull codes. I removed the Diag box an every thing that want used. My harness is about the size o a Roll of Rolo's

Thanks for the info. The only reason I was leaning towards da z90 was I heard the ecu holds up better. True???

Roll of Rolo's??? Nice comparison. haha

Well, I am running an ecu from a 96 so right there it is three years newer then any A70. I have heard that the autos sometimes have trouble because they are searching for gear input, but I have ran mine for three years and never found this to be true. I don't here about the caps bein a problem on the x90/z30 ecu's. you can also use an z30 ecu on a x90 harness and get the best of both worlds Soarer tune, chaser simplicity.

So what he will need to do is use his original auto trans wires from his harness and buy the 2 drift motion connectors and splice the wires in? Am I understanding this correctly?

Your best bet is to source the x90 ecu pin outs and the pin out for the truck. Figure out what wires correspond to each other and make the connections. Colors most likely wont match so you will have to work with the inputs as long as the truck auto tranny gives the chaser Ecu the proper inputs it should work as designed .

Question? You mentioned attaching the trucks plugs and match it with the 1js harness, why would u suggest that?? Are you thinkin I'm gonna use the trucks gauges and all??

Also you mentioned trucks auto trans?? I'm using the 1j auto trans that came with it.

Thanks for all the assistance..

Ok so I am a bit confused .

So you are putting a full 1jz motorset into a XX toyota truck. Correct?

If that is the case you will have to make the aforementioned ECU to mainfuse box connections.

Extend alternator wires

Make connections between the truck body harness and the ecu to run whatever gauges you want to use. Unless you are gonna use after market.

Connect the NSW, Backup light to the truck .

This sound about right?

The caps are still a problem. Ive fixed my own and my buddy's recently. Buddy's hadn't even burnt anything yet. But were swollen and starting to leak causing a 4k idle.
