Hi peeps! ive got 1992 jza70 2.5 tt R, im trying to figure out what type of diff i have in my car. ive looked on the metal plate n bulkhead and it reads G299, which ive been told it means TORSEN LSD, However it doesnt seem to behave like a lsd. Ive had the car up on a lift and spun the back wheel by hand and the other side wheel just stays still!:1zhelp: the other thing is if launch the car hard only the nsr wheel breaks traction! is this how a torsen lsd behaves? im not to clued up on these things can anyone shed any light if maybe my diff could be shot! im a bit gutted now as i was hoping to use the car for drifting....

thanks Umran

In my experience factory supra diffs (clutch and torsen) are total garbage. Even after rebuilding a supra diff and shimming the spring it would still unlock in the middle of a slide. I've had 4 of them that do this. They officially suck.

my torsen lay's down to nice black mark's:).it's also very smooth in corner's,much better then the stock lsd.i changed out my diff in just over an hour.went for a ride and couldn't believe how smooth it was making corner's.
i'm also waiting for it to spill it's gut's soon;)

For DD/spirited driving what would you say about getting rid of my 4.3 LSD for the 4.1 torsen sitting in my garage? I don't plan on doing any drag racing, track use, hard launches or drifting. I read on this forum so far that the torsen performs better for DD usage as said by tsuper92 above.

Torsen design is brilliant, it's just that the case is weak on the one for our cars so they don't take abuse.

It will drive differently, so be warned...
