The air conditioning used to work perfectly in this car before I pulled the motor out to do a bunch of work on it.

Now, when I push the AC button in, the light will come on for a few seconds, then start flashing, or it just won't come on at all. The compressor never engages. I'm pretty sure the problem isn't with the climate control, it worked fine before. I think I just forgot to connect sonething back up in the engine compartment.

I know that the wire going to the AC clutch is connected, I know that the conenctor going to the pressure switch on the AC line is connected, I'm not sure what else there is in the engine bay. I noticed a grey 4 pin connector hanging near the starter not plugged in. It could be the reason, but I don't know what it plugs into.

I also have an intermittant CEL that seems to come and go randomly. It may be related, but my ECU is fried so I can't pull the code.

Hate to ask this, but did you recharge the AC system after you put the engine back in?

I put a 1jz in my supra and I recharged the ac system and the clutch engages and it gets cool right away, then after a couple of mins is stops working.

Not sure what the wiring is like on a JZA70, but on my 2JZ harness, before I removed all the extra stuff, the A/C compressor had it's own little harness with the plug that attached to the clutch, a ground, and I believe the high/low pressure switch. This harness connected to the rest of the harness with a little grey 4-pin plug. :dunno:

The system was never discharged. I removed the AC compressor from the motor, and left it in the engine bay when I removed the motor.

got_boosted: The clutch, and pressure switch go into the engine harness, the 4 pin comes out of it at a different location. It is very possible that they connect. Where is this 4 pin connector located on your car, and what does it plug into? Mine is underneath the intake manifold, near the back, hanging beside the starter.

Oh, ok. Did you check to see if there was still any refridgerant in there?

I just checked the car again, and the 4 pin plug that's not connected is for the AC CLUTCH RELAY. So, that's why it isn't working :)

Now I need to know where the other end of the connector is.

the plug should plug into the a/c compressor.

both my 1JZ's (one sold now) have ice cold AC. the AC system on the engine harness is just the compressor plug that tells the clutch to go on or off. Flashing light = not plugged in (but we know that). So plug that sucker back into the compressor and have a cool day :)

Cool. Would you be able to tell me where the connector plugs into?

It's a square 4 pin grey connector hanging down under the intake manifold near the back. It's part of a harness that has the starter solenoid signal, and the oil level sensor as well.

Ric: There's already a connector plugged into the compressor. This seems to be different.
