I've got a very weird problem going on with my 1JZGTE swap into my 90 and was wondering if any of you guys would know where to go next. Cliff notes...
Extended the harness personally one wire at a time (content with it being done properly).
Switched over the body plugs to work with the MA71 body plugs.
Performed all plumbing under the hood including all the misc wiring (including EA2 connector).
Started the car...STARTED!
Car has a very low, rough idle.
NO CEL, temp gauge, RPM (using turbo tach), and no cluster lights lighting up (already checked rheostat and bypassed it).
Battery light lights up at "on" position and goes away once started.
All the vehicle outside lights working properly.
Researching the boards I've done the following. Verified the dome and gauge fuses (including every other fuse) are in good working order.
I've also taken apart most of the car and the interior in tracking down this issue and have come to this conclusion... the problem is within the MKIII and not necessarily the 1JZGTE swap as when I go to the "equivalent" of M1 body plug (on the chasis side) female plug and plug supply either a positive or a negative to the grey/green wire for the check engine light... nothing happens on the dash. Same thing.
Note: My 90 does not have a M1 plug, rather I have a much smaller in design plug that contains all the correct sequence/ color of wires that the M1 connector would have contained leading me to the conclusion that I am working with the right plug. Now, manipulating that female connector I can make my backup lights come on but not the check engine light.
I apologize for such a long post, I've been up working on the MKIII for the past 16hrs and my thoughts are everywhere. The body harness on this car has been changed out to one from another 90 MKIII (car was at one time converted to the 89 wiring from a donor and I didn't like leaving the airbag disabled so I opted to purchasing and installing all of the internal wiring back into the car).
