Just took my head off, some questions.

So I got this motor from drift motion claiming it had only 800 miles on it. It was also said that it had a bhg. Now I was wondering what this looks like to you. The bhg was for sure, but what is that crap on the cylinder walls? Do you think I can clean it off or do I need to take it apart and take it to a machine shop. Let me know, thanks!

This is what she looked like after a good cleaning with some Wd-40 and a rag:

Well I attempted to clean her up a little. Here are some pic's:

Everyone keeps claiming the NPR's will crack. I ended up going with NPR .20" over pistons and they are fine so far, but I only have 500 miles on my motor. Perhaps people think they are forged and not just stock replacement pistons?

If the cylinder walls are scored real bad i'd take it to a machine shop so they can hone it OR bore it out if it's that bad.

Unfortunately it looks like those pistons you have in there are already 1mm oversize- the max the 7m should really be taken. If it needs anything more than a hone, its a boat anchor.

if you look at the pictures, it just seems like it surface rust. I think I'll be fine with just a hone, but why is 1mm oversize the limit for 7m's? It seems like there is more than enough material between cylinders to take some more off no? If that previous sentence sounded like shit coming from my ass, then excuse my ignorance.

Lol no I don't have a definite answer for you either. 1mm is .040" over, I have seen people go a max of .060" over on the 89+ style block which is stronger (not sure which yours is, if there are two large allen plugs at the back of the block on the drivers side, it is the early block, and if it has 2 small regular core plugs, then it is the stronger 89+ block). What I said is based purely off of what I have read from reliable sources on this website. What their actual testing is I am not sure, but it is pretty commonly known that .040" over is about the safest maximum to take off, I think the bigger concern is the thickness of the cylinder walls/water jackets, rather than between cylinders.
