I'm not a big drinker..
..and I'm not in the medical profession.
-So where did my online persona originate?
In 1998, a certain little game called "Half-Life" became Game of the Year for the PC. I bought a copy of it for $5 in Korea. When I brought it home, I played the game a little, and then tried to dabble in the online Multiplayer mode. I couldn't because I didn't have a legitimate CD Key, so a friend of mine with Half Life and no Internet connection let me use his key. I tried it, but standard Half-Life was BO-RING. I preferred the "Team Fortress Classic" modification, where you could choose your class. Over time, I learned how to play all of the classes, but one of the last classes that I did well with was the Medic. Now, something that bothered me about the Medic was that he could "infect" a player on the other team, and if that player came in contact with someone from their team, they would get infected, and unless they had a Medic on their own team to heal them, they would need to get health, or slowly die. I call this a "pussy kill", and never did this. It's SO cheap.
Anyways, there is a tool that the Medic has called a concussion grenade. When it is thrown at the enemy, the wave/blast can move them quite aways away and causes massive disorientation for awhile - you can't aim or walk as straight as you would like - almost like trying to run while drunk off your ass. The Medic is the 2nd fastest class in the game, and can wield the "Super Shotgun" [which pumps out two rounds with each shot - no slouch in the damage department]. A concussion grenade also does not affect the Medic for as long - so if you throw one on the ground and jump on it with correct timing, you can propell your Medic very long distances, or you can get into places that are very tough to access otherwise.
..so there I would go, a Medic, jumping on my own concussion grenade, flying through the air, up onto the Sniper deck.. then wait a few seconds to recover, and blast the snipers really quickly. I could disorient the Soldiers and Heavy Weapons Guys and take them down with the Super Shotgun - sometimes several in the same room at the same time. I was very good, and at one time I ranked number 107 in the world at the game. When I became awesome with the Medic class was right after I turned 21 years old. I was partying, drinking, and playing that game - and still whooping ass while impaired, on screen and off.
..so there you have it - "The Legend of Drunk_Medic"!!!
