Just Purchased a 90 Supra Turbo!!!

So this ad popped up on craigslist last night... emailed the guy, he called me 10mins later with all the info. Says i can buy it for 700. I think hell, not a bad deal... Show up, find a nice little 1990 Supra Turbo just sitting there... i think this is gonna be awesome. The guy walks out, talk about the car, he starts it up and my god can you hear that rod slappin that crank! hahaha

Talk to my parents, there not too sure about it... i have a history of buying blown engines and rebuilding them. haha. But i bought it anyways. Its getting towed home tomorrow afternoon by my girlfriends dad. Free Tow FTW!!

And it has a brand new OEM fan shroud in the back.

Not a bad deal for 700. Besides it needing engine work, it looks like it could use some tires, paint and a few interior pieces, but otherwise it looks to be in pretty damn good shape. What are your plans with it?

Looks good for that price. Get that engine work done first and then start to detail it to make it look nice and you will be good to go.

Not 100% sure on the engine... thinkin of a Eagle/Probe combo....
It needs a new ignition, armrest, shift boot and e-brake cover...
Tires are potenza in the back which are actually still good, and turanza in the front.
(I love how old people always buy good tires)
Paint is shitty, but the lines are good, and theres 2 SUPER tiny dents on the rear passenger qtr panel.

Once i get it home tomorrow, i'll give it a good washing and vaccuming to see what i really have. Build thread will be up in a week or two...

No part outs. except for the stock shit im going to eliminate... figure i'll keep power steering on this one.

Even the guy i bought it from was like "this will be a great car with some time put into it"...

Yo should have picked up the 88 7mgte that was selling with a bad harness plus a 1jzgte engine/harness / ecu all for 800 .... it was in Sac.

But 90 does not look bad at all. Apart from the engine, everything else looks pretty darn straight.

I called that guy 4 times. NO answer... so i said to hell with him. Plus this is a 90.
89+ body FTW

I told him i'd take the car for $400 and he can sell the 1jz himself for whatever he wants... he also said the body had some primer on it and what not... this car started up after a few cranks and the body is perfect, just needs a fresh coat of paint.

Engine work is so minor anyways, especially now that i'll know 100% whats in it, you know what i mean? your never too sure with a used car...

N/A - strip the obx headers and sell those so i can fund this some more. so if anybody is looking for some nice obx headers i have some! haha
and the n/a will just be a nice daily driver for now... i'll have to sell it once the 90 is done though...

targa or non-targe makes no difference to me... my one friend is obsessed with targa tops...

and 7m allll the way. i dont like the engine swappin stuff. at least not for this car

(i have no idea why i chose pepperjack cheeze other than the fact that those words contain the letters "J" and "Z" consecutively :biglaugh: )

then again, any JZ engine would have more torque than a GE i think? or maybe its all about where the torque is made? i'd be sad if i couldn't manage 2nd-gear starts from a stop or close to a stop. might not be the best for my clutch but i get lazy sometimes...
