From memory when you alter fuel with a PiggyBack it changes timing as well due to the way they "fool" the ECU.
Hmm, never heard that before. It's a VPC with a Fields SFC.

Since piggybacks fool the stock ecu by telling it theres either more or less air going into the engine. In doing so the ecu would use it's timing maps for x amount of air going into the engine, when in reality there's more air than it knows.
This is my understanding on that subject.

Ian I agree completly with you about the piggyback, a standalone just isn't in the budget for me yet.

Perfectly valid reason not to have one and all the more reason to extract any data you can that will help achieve a non engine killing tune ;)

Personally I'd rather live with 18psi and a safe margin than 20psi and be on the edge as the power difference once the timing is optimised isn't that great.

The sad thing is people probably think, "Well 18 psi is safe. What's two more psi?"

hence wall to wall BHG's here on any given day ;)

I ran 24psi daily on the 7M/T04z BUT I had good engine control and Meth injection to keep it out of detonation.

Yea I'll be turning the boost down, the cheapo wastegate I'm using now isn't playing nice and won't like to go under 20psi on a high load. When I put the other engine in I'll be using my tial wg and I'll probably keep it at 16psi daily and maybe 20-21psi for track days when I can get some 110oct in there.

<shudder@cheap WG> all it takes is one small spike if you're near ragged to tip it over...

Again logging would show this up and the squiggly lines are invaluable when doing the autopsy :(

The 46mm tial should serve me well.
Eventually I'll be controlling boost with the maft pro as well.
Gonna get one of those mini laptops so I can use it to log. I'm still gettin a hang of the maft pro, just put it in a couple days ago.

All I know is I'm determined to make 500rwhp this year.

ahhh ok (you're getting to the point mod wise where you need to know these things)

LMAO at this retarded threads.

People should learn more before boosting to 20 psi and thinking that it's safe. Meth and boost is a great way to do things these days and relatively cheap too.

i never said i thought it was safe. i knew something was going to happen and i didnt really care.
if you read this retarded threads you'd see im gonna do it right with my good engine.
aint gonna be like yours but its a budget build.

Fair enough, but, starting a thread titled "Joined the BHG club" is just ignorant and yet will add to the fire of the so called infamous BHG of the 7M, which isn't needed. It isn't the engine, it's the owner 99% of the time, and in this case, it is too. ;)

It doesn't need to be like my build, it just needs to be done right. Brad here runs a stock engine with ARP studs and a metal gasket, 500 RWHP and drives it daily. When I say drives it, he drives it like he stole it, ALL THE TIME, and the car is still running strong!

Oh I agree 100% I know I was the cause of the bhg. I think deep down I just wanted it to happen so I'd finally have to finish puttin my mhg engine together.
Sometimes it's take something to break for me to get off my ass and finish something.

Yea I plan havin pretty much the same setup as Brad cuz from what Ive read I drive just like him too lol.
