I bought the car from a 60 year old guy who drove it very easy. He owned it for like 15 years and it only has 160 thousand miles on it so hopefully the bearings/crank journals are okay.

I think you should just torque it down to 75ft pounds with what it has already, no ARP's and spend 30bux on new hoses (the bigger ones are expensive) if you want to stay around 300hp @ the wheels for years to come.

i vote negative on running an extra quart of oil in it, you have fun with that. if your car is that much of a piece of crap just carry one in the car...

HAHAHAHA ..... easy killah that "rule of thumb" came from one of the most respected and knowledgeable people in this MkIII community. I am sure his vote carries more weight than alot of people. I believe our oil pan and oiling system can hanlde like 8qts safely(**IIRC**) however I am not saying you should put that much oil in it.

But an extra qt is a good safety option and 100% safe. Read the FAQ's about avoiding rod knocks.

The extra quart of oil was added into the mix mainly to ensure that there is a constant supply of oil to the oil pump, like under hard cornering, and especially hard acceleration, like jdub's car is capable of ;). It is not added to make sure a quart doesn't leak out, if you are doing it for that reason, you guys need to fix your shit ;).

Like mentioned above, the supra is more than capable to handle an extra quart of oil without increasing a mist inside the engine from the crank dipping into the oil.
