Just curious as to what oil pressure you guys are getting on a stock setup

I just threw a set of rod bearings at my 114k engine and oil pressure at idle is approximately 38. According to the stock gauge anyway...

Does that sound about right...what are y'all getting?

4psi? Um...

Okay, my car idles with the oil pressure at an indicated 2-2.5kg/cm^2 which translates to about 28-35 PSI. The pressure is higher when the car is warming up, and lower when it's hot, as I'd expect, since the oil will be less viscous. For the record, I have Castrol 10W40 in there now.

Well, I'm going by the stock gauge... My NA engine ran with oil pressures in that neighborhood for years, and hundreds of thousands of kilometers, too. Okay, at low idle when warm it might drop to 1.5kg/cm^2, but the only time it dropped below that was after the valve stem seals went totally bad, and I accidentally ran low on oil. (It took 3L to bring it back to the full line)

I'm going by the stock gage too. It's been reworked to make it accurate. And when I said I worked to get "it" like that I meant the pressure, not the gage. I guess the point is for a stock system around 5 psi at hot idle is common and I use whatever oil it takes to keep highway pressure around 30 psi. That said my engine isn't stock but close.

are these results all useing the stock sandwich plate?the pressure figures are a bit scary..last rebuild i used a speco remote oil filter setup with a pwr oil cooler and now my oil pressures are 82psi at idle cold and drop down to 30psi hot cruiseing pressure is 72psi.Anyone know why toyota made them with such low oil pressure?was it too protect seals?

the most i'll ever see is 38-39 psi even at WOT

cold
20 or so psi @ idle
38 psi while crusing @ 2500-3000

warm
35 psi @ 2,500 @ operating temp the most i'll ever see is 38-39 psi even at WOT
7-8 psi @ idle @ operating temp

I'm starting to really wonder about some of these engines.

I can only speak for what the stock gauge says about my oil pressure. It's marked off in kg/cm^2 and by gauge position, 1 is pretty low.

1 kg/cm^2 is equal to 14.2 psi.

I think the highest I've seen my stock gauge read is 4, which is 56.9 psi.

The TSRM check for oil pressure is at 3000 RPM, where it should read at least 2.5 kg/cm^2 and up to 5 kg/cm^2. Though a look at the TSRM does show that 0.3 kg/cm^2 is acceptable at warm idle.

My 7MGE:

40 PSI at 1500 RPM Cold.
35 PSI at 1000 RPM Warm.
41 PSI at 3000 RPM Warm.

Oil: Castrol 30w

Fresh rebuild hence the 30 weight. All tolerances are in spec.

I need to find out how to fix a code 51 and swap my TPS (Code 41) before I can get it to idle below 1000 though.

51 IIRC is not stored in the ECU (unless its 52 im thinking of) and should not affect anything if the light isn't on. I've swapped my TPS as well and idle remains high :( ....7 months after the rebuild and i still can't figure it out. I'm going to use my buddy's ISC valve just in case, mine checked out ok electronically but i guess we'll see.

Just got my rebuilt engine to start. Has a new OEM GTE oil pump. Idling at 700 or so rpms the oil pressure gauge was around 38-40 psi. I didn't let it warm up since oil was pouring out somewhere...oops, gotta fix a leak.

10PSI per 1K RPM on mine...

Pennsoil Platinum 5W-30 soon to be changed to German Castrol...

Keep in mind the NA's tend to have higher oil pressure because they don't have the crappy oil cooler circuit that bleeds pressure, nor oil squirters to do that same... My pressure peaks around 40PSI under WOT at redline, but it's hard to watch the gauge and the road...

Stock gauge as well, and from what I've gathered they are pretty accurate, if a bit slow...
