I bought a 1986.5 Toyota Supra (non turbo) off Ebay for $438. :) This car has 143,000 miles on it, which to my understanding; is still very little for a Supra. The car also has new z-rated directional tires on it, that have less than 3,000 miles on them. I forget the brand name, but it started with a "P"; and I believe that it was a Japanese brand. The tires alone are worth what I paid for the car. :)

I've wanted a MKIII Supra since I first seen one when I just got out of high school, and I just couldn't pass this one up.

The only things wrong with it is:

-the fuel pump (which I just replaced),
-it needs a new back window (I'm picking up a used hatch this weekend),
-a brake light switch (already purchased and need to install),
-and it needs cleaned inside and out.

The pieces missing from the interior are all located in the trunk.

The stickers have already been removed from the windows, and as you can see it'll need a paint job as the previous owner spray painted the car black. The car was black originally, so it shouldn't be too difficult to repaint. :) The car is originally from North Carolina, so there is NO RUST anywhere on this car; which is very rare thing up here in Northern Michigan. Especially on a car this old. :)

Once the fuel pump was installed, I started the car and it runs pretty smooth. I have yet to drill out or bypass the J-tube, but I'll be doing that later on this week. It just needs a few odds and ends, (like a steering wheel, center console cover, and e-brake handle + boot), but I'll have it whipped into shape pretty soon.

What do you guys think? Pretty good deal for a N/A? Anything I should check or look out for?

:icon_lol: The spider was evicted.

I believe that the car has been sitting for just over a year. The previous owner bought this car to use as a parts car, but then ended up selling it instead of stripping it out. During the past year, he said that he started the car, and drove it on occasion; but as of this past spring the fuel pump failed, and it wouldn't start.

After installing the new fuel pump and putting in fresh gas, the car started and ran pretty smooth. I'm changing the oil tonight, and hopefully fixing the brake lights. (They stay on as soon as I hook up the battery, and I have a thread started about that here). I bought a new brake light switch thinking/hoping that that would fix the problem, but I guess I'll find out tonight.

After that, I just need to finish cleaning up the car; and will have it on the road next week, unless I run into some other problems.

At any rate, I've been lurking on this forum for the past week; and this seems like a great group of people with a love for the MKIII, so I thought I'd join.

That's it! When I get new rims to put on the car, I plan on changing over to Toyo Proxies.

I got the Supra started the other night, but it's running really lean. I spoke with my mechanic, and he thinks that the injectors may have varnish in them with as long as the car was sitting. After running for about 15 minutes, the idle smoothed out, and I was able to rev the engine freely. Tonight, I started the Supra, and it didn't want to rev past 1200 or so RPM. He suggested to run some injector cleaner through it, and see if that helps clear things up; as it runs much better after it's warmed up.

I'm afraid that it may be a clogged fuel filter, and if so; I'm going to have a tough time trying to change it in my yard, with only a limited number of hand tools. I'm really hoping that the injector cleaner works. Any other suggestions?
