and to everyone else who is wondering about these turbo's jeff stands by his work trust me ive talked with him on many occations and was planning on using the jt70 bolt on before i found my current turbo set up or rather it found me for the right price basically, now i just need to get my motor done again and slap that bia on......hopefully by tx2k10 but we'll see what time allows me.

Good to hear, but I was wondering....which business does Jeff work out of?
I'm fairly new to the board so I've never dealt with him.

Thanks,

Yup and I'll be ready for Ya, with my lil ole JT58!!! My car will be done this month, but built a little better.

Joe needs to come out and play! Maybe we can get Christian to come out too!

I was doing a search to find a quick spooling 400+ rwhp capable turbo and was looking at the GT35R. With the GT35R I would have to change out my manifold and there was a bit of custom work required for the install from what I recall. I came across a couple of posts where people were speaking of the JT56 Lightning so I checked out notrice.com and found the JT58 and the JT61GT which apparently is similar to the GT35R. I like the idea of being able to just bolt these on while being able to keep my Defcon downpipe and stock manifold. Also, they are a little cheaper than a full GT35R kit.

I can't wait to swap out my stock CT26, it has 100,000 miles on it and still going strong but I want more power and I need a project...haha.

Thanks again!

that JT61GT is a bad ass turbo and yes i do need to come out and play.... too much working, getting married, and a new house leaves little time for the supra unfortunately....

if i were to do it all again I would. I love my jt61gt, bolted on great and Jeff (and MDC) are both great to work with. It was a long time in coming to get this turbo together but man was it worth it. I need to hit the dyno soon and see what kind of numbers 20 psi on pump do....

Since the JT series of turbo use the stock manifold, has anyone modified their manifold for better flow, or has anyone still gone ahead and opted for an aftermarket manifold?

i never ran any of the boly on t4 turbo such as the jt or sp turbo about the biggest i got was a ct26-54trim which is now going on the gf's car but i did however take my manifold and a digrinder and went to town :icon_bigg i opened up the exit hole on the manifold a little and ground down the divider til there was on a little hump left, some have taken it all the way out but i wanted to leave a small hump giving some direction for the exhaust to flow, then i gasket matched the 6 entrance hole on the mani from the head.

all in all i believe it took me about 5 hours to do and smooth everything out, and yes i did notice a better flow i believe it spooled about 150 rpm sooner, on the stock ct26 with hard pipes and a better intercooler i hit full boost by 2200rpm and the ct26-54trim right around 2800rpm.....

if i were to do it agian i would leave to studs in for the heat shield i took those out and had to spend the extra change to get it coated which ended up peeling off anyway..........

you guys have any compressor maps ?

Who do I look like Turbonetics???LOL!!!

I wouldn't bore or hone out the exhaust manifold other than where it connects to the turbo. You have the chance at making it too thin inside.

what the F are you talking about ryan??? you can bore the exhaust entrance of the manifold all you want what you DONT want to do is port the exhaust side of the head unless makeing ungodly amounts of power, HOWEVER if you follow the instructions i have laid out up above you will have more power, quicker spool and better exhaust flow, hence gasket matching it....that does and will suffice, no more than that i recommend cause lets face it the stock manifold sucks period but does get the job done................to a certain point.........
but i dont wanna be rude to ya bro so with all do respect, i wouldnt be giving advise on something you have not done where i have (with the help of a friend whom used to work in a machine shop) and if you have done this than forgive me i didnt know..............

Wow! I wasn't mocking or making fun of you or anything! But yes I have ported 2 exhaust manifolds, the first got thin right where the studs stick into the manifold making little humps inside the runners and it cracked. I also did the gasket matching on that manifold.

The second one I just ported the area bigger where the turbo meets the manifold and it has helped flow a little, not much but some.

It has been said on here several times not to port the manifold in fear of what exactly what I did. The manifold runners are so short that it doesn't improve flow enough to really see the difference.

I've commented on this thread enough. I'm done.
