I have a question about the product for anyone who knows.

Would it help to eliminate the "wet noodle" effect from having the targa off while driving? I realize that it's meant to bolt to the subframes (separately) and should firm the handling, but is the product really worth it?

Anyone who has one, please chime in, I'd love your feedback.

The reason why I ask, is because I saw it on their website, but read on mkiiitech that it was rare? I had emailed a representative, and he told me that msrp is 110, shipping 20-25, and is on back-order from Japan until June or July.

Thanks for any help guys/girls

You'd be better off with a targa brace like theWeezl used to make (Now his SN is Facime), or an oldschool floor bar.

Edit: 92nsx, yes, that's what he's referring to. :) I've got one in my garage.

I don't really see how it would help with the targa.

It seems the only thing that has a decent effect on the targa noodle effect is either the rear strut bar or the rear cross brace. I would lean much more toward the cross brace.

Rear Cross Brace:

Thanks for the input guys. Would using a combination of the rxb and the lower arm bar have more effect on the wet noodle effect?

I know that a weezl wing would be best, but I personally would like to have my top completely open.

Now I know what that is on my front end. I posted pictures somewhere (my build thread?) and nobody ever told me what it was. I know nothing about suspension. But I will soon be turning my attention to it. Good to know I have a JIC Lower Arm Bar already. do-luck and coilovers will come, but they are probably light years away.

I bought a universal eBay floor brace and it is really heavy duty and fits well. I just had to drill and tap one extra hole in the framerails per side.

One idea I had that might be the best for reducing the wet noodle effect is to install brand new OEM door hinges. Because on the back each door jam there is a brace that fits into the body to add stability. In the Toyota parts catalog they are called "stabilizers". You can imagine that any wear and play in the door hinges would render these useless. The body of the car uses the doors for extra chassis reinforcement.

(other than placebo and add weight)

I would think that bracing that would have an effect would need to be like a roll cage,or be something that ties the car together higher up in the chassis, (harness bar comes to mind.)

That's what i was thinking. The floorbrace is just another piece of metal in the middle of the car. Unless some sort of brace is connecting the points where the targa would bolt upto normally, it's not going to help at all. A cage would.... but who want's a full cage in a streetdriven car.

So basically the best thing to reduce the targa effect is either a targa brace or an underside x brace tying the subframes together?

The only thing that you can do on a stock car would be a targa X brace. Which for totally nulls the Targa idea. Linking the front and rear subframe would a good idea aswell... but it's going to add a lot of weight to the car. Then again, if you pay someone to do that work, about the same amount of weight that you added to the car will be removed from your wallet. So that should even things out again.

So what you're saying is that the JIC lower arm bar and Abflug bars would do jack squat aside from lighten my wallet?

This is true with the money and weight parts. For me though, the comfort of having no/reduced noodle effect far outweighs the added weight. There's nothing better than driving with the top off on a warm, sunny summer's day.
