JE sucks

That still doesn't address the fact that lowering the air temps actually improves combustion not takes away. Making the air hotter takes away from power not adds, that's how things explode since you have an highly uncontrolled ignition.

I do see some validation to your other counteraction comments, that still depends on how high the person wants their compression. They may want it higher but not as high as it would be if they installed a thinner hg.

^Correct. Theoretically saying (because I don't know the exact math involved in this) If someone wants 9.0 comp piston in their car, but the closest brand only offers 9.5, then they can use a thicker HG to lower it somewhat.

not the point. the air outside the piston, still in the intake has nothing to do with whats going on inside those cylinders the compression creates the enviroment as does the heat from what ever i'll give you that but the comp. is the main factor 8:1 vs 10.25:1 is going to produse less chance of detonation cause the enviroment is not so volutile. what i'm gettin at though is why counteract what you intended to do? if you want 9:1 why machine it and all that just to drop it? i'm not flaming or what ever you want to say but why state something like that when it counteracts your original intensions? thats my complex.
It has to do with that. ;)
At least that's what I got from your post. :dunno:

Is ninja edit power gone???

Seriously, JE can go to hell.

We are building a 2jz right now. We ordered the correct size pistons and rings from JE. We had the machine shop check the end gap and it was at .028" and .030" gap right out of the box. We called them and they said that we had the correct rings. We told them no way, that was way too much gap. They said no, just run it like that. We said they were crazy. Then they said we had the cylinders bored the wrong size, but we were at the machine shop and had a dial bore gauge in the cylinder when we called them, so we told them they were full of shit. So we said that we wanted another set of rings that were the correct size. They told us they would send us the same set again but we would have the same problem. So we said to get us the right rings, they said that was all they had. We said we would return their rings and get Total Seal rings. They told us the Total Seal rings are junk.

That is the last time we ever use JE pistons.

kinda like the guy i talked to today. i told a little fib and said i needed then because i had a race this weekend. and he said
him "i can send it ground since that what you ordered the first time but i cant next day air it to you"

me "well you should because i should have had the correct piston ring here back in june when i ordered the parts."

him "hold on"

...five min. wait...

him"well i can send it next day air at the price of ground but i cant do it for free"

me thinking "i never asked for free just wanted it next day aired"

so i paid like 10 bucks and its going to be here tomarrow and im happy. but still unhappy with je. i have three other engines to build(1 7m and 2 vw engines) guess ill find someone else to use for pistons

Sounds like the rep you spoke with was a complete assclown who just lost a valued customer ;).

That kind of customer service is not service at all. :3d_frown:

I'll contrast that to my experience with FAL Fans...I had one of their fan controllers die on me, shutting the car down until it was fixed. I called them, the rep I spoke with offered immediately to replace it. I told him my situation with the car due to the controller and he offered to mail it over night FedEx. When I got it (the next day as promised) he sent the entire kit, not just a controller. It was a good thing...when I pulled the radiator to install my ATI damper, I broke the temp sensor for the controller. That FAL rep made damn sure it was made right...they kept me as a customer.

Total Seal is junk? That guy is off his ass.

my 2 stroke friends call wiesco siezco's. They heat up too quickly...way quicker than the cyl walls. But the 4 stroke metallurgy might be different.

I don't know if pro-x makes 4 stroke pistons but the top guys in 2 stroke drags (snowmobile's, etc) use pro-x and I personally have found them very predictable.

There is a guy , shawn garrigan, bike drag racer.. i'll ask him what he uses..he builds his own 4stroke engines..even machines the blocks out of billet alum.
