it's ok. ;) it happens! just keep everything you learn in mind before you post, that's all.

apology accepted. :)

you need to swap the oil pressure sending unit because the JDM one measures differently than the USDM one. (metric v.s. standard) the EGR is needed to make your car legal for emissions, if they have it in your area. there is no emissions testing where i live, so i get away with no EGR.

which temp sensor are you talking about? the water temp sensor doesn't need to be changed, as the "normal" mark is just half way on the gauge, there's no numbers.

take care,

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. Lemmie get this straight. Basically in order to do a JDM 7m-gte swap into a USDM chassis you would need: LHD Throttle body, pre '89 ECU, JDM harness, coolant hoses, vacumn lines and misc. sensors? This sounds like a pain in the ass. Mabye I'm uninformed about the JDM 7m-gte or something but, whats so special about the this motor? Wouldn't it be easier to run a USDM engine?
I just recently bought an '88 MK3 roller and the engine is locked up. The guy said it developed a rod knock and eventually spun a bearing. I havn't opened up the engine to have a look yet. I'm considering a new motor and wondering if a JDM would be worthwhile since I may be able to use some parts form my US engine. Sorry to Hijack this thread beear with me guys, I'm 16 and this is my 1st car, I bought it to gain some mechanical experience and have some fun... safely of course. THanks.

no, you'd need the wiring harness and ECU (turbo) that matches the yearspan of your CHASSIS. (87-88 or 89-92) you don't need any sensors if you don't mind splicing on a few different connectors. the "special thing" about the JDM motors is that they SUPPOSEDLY have between 30-40k miles on them. it's really a crapshoot. the ONLY reason i got a JDM engine is because i couldn't find a USDM one.

if you have enough money to buy a JDM engine, then you have almost enough to do a rebuild of the one currently in your car. you never know if the new engine has the same problems as the one you have now. it's a crapshoot. if i were you, i'd rebuild what you have now.

good luck,

still learning
thanks for understanding. after my one post i kinda lingered around and was looking at stuff and saw the wealth of knowledge some of the guys here have, and then i read supra centrals post and understood why i was treated the way i was. ill try my best to be up to those standards.

as for the jdm engine, i got one because the head i had was warped and the block looked to be cracked.

That's ok man...Shaeff said it all ;)

if you're running an 89+ ECU, it has an internal HAC, if you're not, then you'll need an HAC sensor.
