James' 94 Supra Turbo

Thank you everyone for your support.

Seriously though, here are some things that could cost more than what I paid for this car:

- A stock 2JZ-GTE motor (just the motor)
- A V160 6 speed Trans
- A new Samsung refrigerator
- A valve body replacement on a 2009 Mercedes Benz GL550

So far, after selling the wheels and buying new parts, I'm into it about as much as a 2WD 1993 Toyota pickup truck.

The Blitz wheels are gone - Traded them for a set of chrome TT wheels plus cash.

The sorry state of the brakes - new rotors and pads will be finding their way onto this car. The silly brembo stickers will be removed from the stock TT calipers.

Bonus! Stainless steel braided lines!

The car looks pretty shitty with the chromes on, don't get me wrong. If they don't come out nice on a new white paintjob, then they're going to be painted silver or white. Nothing on the car matches yet anyway.

Later went down to my friend John's. Using his lift, I was able to check the catalytic converters. After finding shit like this, you better believe it's getting straight piped with the correct size tubing. Test pipe + weld these two ugly cats together for a temporary smog solution.

Alongside: John's latest vehicle, a 98 4Runner 4x4. It's got bumpers, Total Chaos UCA's, coilovers, and KM2's.

In a little while, the car will be painted and looking like it should!

WILL IT PASS SMOG?

YES, YES IT HAS :)

Sent the tint back to hell from where it came. Faded to purple es muy mexicano.

My friend John had an alternator from a Lexus RX330 he had parted out. The thing shared internals, voltage regulators, brushes, stator... it was the same alternator with the exception of the mounting locations on the housing and the size of the positive terminal.

My alternator randomly failed - the trick was switching the piece with the positive terminal. The lexus terminal was too short, so John cut it off, tapped it, then did the same for the longer Supra terminal. Screwed the longer terminal onto the now-threaded Lexus terminal - I've got an alternator. 14.3V of alternating goodness.

Shown: alternator with the backing, voltage regulator, brushes, and the terminal piece removed.

This thing's really growing on me...

Got rid of the Pioneer radio it had. What a piece of junk that thing was. It couldn't even save radio presets. Got a stocker in good working order.

After reading about the OEM 5x7 subwoofer, I was curious why mine must not be working. Popped the clips from the carpet and unscrewed the cover... that'll do it! Ordered one from eBay and its en route.

The car has a bad pull, so I paid our alignment tech a visit. The toe was terrible up front. Thankfully, the car will soon have a new matching set of tires.

Unfortunately, it appears the third brake light has some burnt LEDs. Oddly, the number of burnt LEDs doubled while the lights were held on. The burned out ones on the left side stopped working on the alignment rack. I found another tail light for sale that I might consider, that or brush up on soldering.

I'm glad your saving this poor car.

Hat tip to you, mad hatter. No Supra deserves to be left alone, especially if riced.

I was so happy to see the stock front bumper put on

Same here! I've got a couple 4WD 4Runners that wouldn't mind having a word with that fiberglass POS that used to be there.

You're doing exactly what I would have done with this car. I still can't believe you got it for so cheap...

Great minds think alike, brother. What's even crazier is that I sold the Blitz wheels for 1k + trade for stock TT wheels, so I'm even a grand less into it than before.

First I ran some seafoam through the intake manifold. Also did an engine oil treatment to get as much crap into the oil as possible. Changed to fresh Mobil 1 10W30 and a K&N HP-1002 filter. Added a fuel injector cleaner and fuel system flush additive with a full tank. Cleaned the stainless Blitz air filter.

Brake rotors have a lot of thickness left, therefor I chose to resurface them and install new Akebono pads. Later on, I plan to remove the brembo stickers from the stock TT calipers and repaint them.

Replacement LED tail light. Strangely, when I was testing the new one, I found that the old one seems to be working on all LED's again... WTF

keeping this as a spare.

Awesome! Once you get her painted and the MK3 all put together you need to get a shot of all your awesome Toyotas lined up.

Sounds about right with the LEDs... My power antenna on the Supra wasn't going all the way up so I bought a new cord and drum, it's been working fine now and the new part has been sitting on my shelf for the last year...

I'm just glad we don't have to drive American cars. I always see these types of intermittent problems in American cars. One or two won't bother me too much.

Once this ones painted, the other ones got a motor and trans, and my trailer's built... LOL soon.

The 17" wheels on this car look much better with the proper tire..

Before, the front was on 215's...

Pulled the speaker boxes, removed the harnesses from each, and plugged in a set of 6" Blaupunkt speakers I had laying around. Sounds SO much better, even if they're still just alright speakers.

Just added:
Crash bar
A/C condenser + dryer
bumper brackets
Overflow tank

Just removed:
Zip ties and similar nonsense
1 foot of extra wire from each turn signal

Realized someone spliced in what looks like a 1980's Toyota Pickup horn... on the list: horns.
20476038131_17e1147c9c_b.jpg

A/C condenser bolted in. Smashed up cooler lines need to go, those are zipties I added (only ones I've put on the car) to keep them from smacking the ground until they're replaced.

20281640940_840a729433_b.jpg

Overflow tank installed. Previously, no overflow at all, just the rubber line pointed at the ground.
20283098329_b4b26d1f13_b.jpg

Adjusted the fender and hood gaps, located the side parking light wires (which were cut, need to find pigtails and plugs now), and reinstalled the front bumper properly. All is well in front clip-fitment world.

Progress is looking awesome! Next time I'm visiting my uncle in Laguna Niguel I'll have to look you up and pop over to MV!

Wow, you've done a complete 180 to this car. It looks so much better back in stock form. Great job, keep it up!!

Thanks! Those square body kit lines just don't flow well at all... that wing was terrible.

Sure, send a PM if you're down this way! Thank you.

Supra has been having an issue at WOT around 4200RPM, power loss. Still chasing that one down... suspecting the second turbo isn't properly engaging. Going to test out the true twin setup and see if perhaps the second turbo solenoid is acting up.

The first round of new OEM parts has been ordered. The brand new fan shroud I received had some damage, so the Toyota parts dept is checking on a better looking one tomorrow. Will post pics then.

The restrictive catalytic converters have been removed. 3.5" exhaust with 2" cat... WTF.

This ones even worse... entire section has been replaced with a 45 degree mandrel bend.

20% tint all around, the summer heat is too much on the interior. Much nicer than the purple bubbles it used to have.
20295134514_4af68cb62d_b.jpg

New fuel filter... under the car is very saturated with ATF from a power steering pump leak. The old fuel filter was the original with the car. The undercarriage will be meeting a steam pressure washer soon.
