Did you use new bolts when you put the flywheel in?

I didn and they came with this red shit on the threads already when I got them from Toyota, maybe that helps

odd... mine didn't

I used red loctite (I use and impact to remove them)

red shit is probably some sort of thread lock. maybe it just clogs the threads or it reacts to heat when the car is used and locks up.

so you still have a knock? maybe your main crank pulley is loose!? check it.

or are you saying you fixed it but it was actually your flywheel?

can that be done from the check plates as well?

they are on the sides of the tranny correct? i think i saw one without jacking up the car...

OH CRAP what engine and tranny are you running?
Yeah, the red shit on the threads is thread locker (locktite). It's there more to prevent oil from leaking out then to prevent the bolts from backnig out, but it does help.

No, I do not still have a knock, tightening the flywheel fixed the problem.

Yes, this can be done from the access holes, that's what I did, but it's a PAIN IN THE ASS. Less of a pain then dropping the tranny though.

I'm running a 1.5JZ and R154.

I think in the spring I'll pull the motor and tranny, put in a lightweight flywheel, and the ARP bolts I have lying around.

ah, dunno on the 2J bottom end, but on the 1J the bolt for the flywheel need sealant...

7M doesn't, but I use loctite anyway...

I can drop a tranny in a day now, tranny jack FTW

so does anyone know if i can do all this on my 7mge tranny? i think with a glance i found the plates but it looks like a weird angle that might not work out too well for me. i forgot the name of the 7mge tranny...that's what i have. at least i don't THINK it's a r154.
