Well I picked up my Supra today and was able to drive it 100 miles home. My thanks to Christian w/DFW Supras for fixing it so fast and cheaply (IMO). I learned my headgasket was not blown but burned from a botched "whatever" that was done before I had it swapped into my car. Also learned it was a JDM engine too. Anyway it runs incredibly smooth. I drove it more today than I have since I bought it in September. Now I just need to fix the bushings on the rack and pinion so it will stop making that awful popping sound and following every groove in the road. That and a few other odds and ends and I'll be ready for a serious cruising in it. Although I do realize that a Supra owners work is never done.

Great to hear you have it running after all you've been through with it! Replace that rack before it gets like mine. I swerved at a cop on a 2 lane road tonight. I'm having mine replaced monday.

BTW...........Beautiful new avatar

Grey supras are hott. I'm glad you got yours back and running good. I think that steering is way over rated so don't worry about your rack.............;)

Thanks. I took that picture with my razor cell phone. It turned out pretty good. How much are rebuilt racks going for these days anyway?

mine is costing $193 exchange for the part, and somewhere near $250 to install it with new tie rod ends and get it aligned. But, I removed the racked (almost) from the grey car, with no motor the other night. It took all of 4 bolts, and disconnect the tierods. With the motor in, you'd have to remove the two lines as well, and I don't know how accessible the rear bolts are. I will be climbing under the white car to see if I think I can do it before taking it to have it done on Monday. He told me that total with tax and all will be $500 or less. I know nothing about suspension, so the fear of how bad my alignment would be will probably cost me a couple hundred here. But part of that will be the alignment that I will still need to pay for anyway. I'm SOOO happy that my new Red shell has a brand new rack already in it.

Guess I'll be swerving a little while longer till I save up some more $$$. I don't remember seeing a thread or post about a new red shell. I didn't know you got one. Guess I'll do some searching. Have you posted pics of it yet? If you haven't what's the story? I guess the grey car is now parts.:nono:
I'm probably way behind on your events. lol
Ken

Edit- I found your 3E5 thread Scott. Where the hell have I been?
