89 Supra with 91 engine harness converted to 89 plugs where needed. T61 turbo, 3" DP, 440CC injectors, stock AFM, Apexi SAFC Neo, stock fuel pump, 2JZ FPR. Can't think of anything else.

Problem #1

Well first, yesterday it would sometimes die after taking it out of gear and I would start it back up and it would die again... Do that a couple times then it would idle fine. However it seems to be getting worse. Sometimes it would idle great then about 2 seconds later just die.

Problem #2:

I keep having to adjust low idle fuel between 650-950. The idle fluctuates here and there as well. When it fluctuates the AFRs change as well...

After it ran great for 30-60 minutes (enough to break in the rings) it started going pig rich. Like 10.0 (bottom of the UEGO reading) at 2,500-3,700 and it would misfire during heavy throttle like that. That's at -50 on the SAFC... It wasn't repsonding to SAFC changes at all.

The ONLY code that was thrown was code 11 which is Momentary interruption in power supply to ECU.

Trouble Area

* Ignition switch circuit
* Ignition switch
* Main relay circuit
* Main relay
* ECU

Other than that, it sounds amazing open DP and pulled really strongly up end the high end.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Nick, usually this means there is a bad ground. The 7M ECU is only grounded in one location (under the intake manifold).

Check your grounds

Sorry, yea that was in reference to the code 11.

As far as the SAFC tuning goes. I would try not to change the airflow settings at idle. The ECU is supposed to try and work out the idle so that it's in the 14.7 AFR ratio. I know it's weird that it's dipping into the 10 AFR range, but it could also just be learning. A lot of the time the ECU just takes a while to learn.

On a positive note congratulations on getting it running, and only one code at startup is pretty impressive!

That's all I can think of right now..

So I just turned the boost controller off completely and just ran WG spring up to 4,000 RPM and it stayed rich and not lean. Wonder if the stock fuel pump isn't enough... (Ben's idea)

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Any thoughts about the dieing issue?

Yes it gets worse after I've gotten on it however its not the same as it was on my 7M. The 7M setup would do it because of non-recirculated BOV however this would be if I gave it gas up to about 3,500 RPM then let it decelerate. Or I would do that and just drive it for about 20-30 more seconds and then when i took it out of gear it would still stall. The AFR's don't do anything strange before it. At least that I noticed.

I think I fixed that pig rich situation. I found a coupler that was loose underneath the car. Tightened that up and no more pig rich under boost or misfiring.

Also my belt is making ungodly noises and I think its because my PS pump is off alignment. I've put belt dressing on it and it doesn't quiet it down that much at all. However my car is loud enough right now so you don't hear it lol. Well it doesn't drowned it out all that much... :(

I'm going to check the bolts tomorrow that mount it and hope that one is loose or something.

good call on the loose coupler. I'd say you're about to run out of fuel on that stock fuel pump!

so you're BOV is recirculated now? or is it still uncirculated?

Yeah just the SSQV un-recirculated.

I may need to pick up the fuel pump.

Still cant find out what the dieing issue is! Someone told me the SAFC has a remedy for that but im not sure it would help it that much.

Just got back from a test drive with the BC off and I'm STILL running lean after around 4,200RPMs or so. With +45 fuel from 3,000-6,000 to see if it would richen me up a bit.

Fuel pump upgrade time?

Just swapped the wires... I had the RPM signal wired into the incorrect wire...

It tunes now!

Stays safe and around 12s or so. I need to fine tune but now at least its responding! :) Feels incredible!!!!!!!!!

This thing at .56 bar feels stronger than my 7M ever did on a 54 Trim CT at .86 bar.

WOOT!

Now to fix the dieing issue... I have no idea where to start on that :(

Thanks!

Could be the unrecirc'd BOV, mine was dieing without a return to the intake pipe. Also, with a code 11 the ECU won't give you any other trouble codes. I had my grounds attached to the one of the bolts on the IM and moved them to where the dipstick support attaches (steel vs Al) and the code 11 went away. Might be worth a shot...
