Remember those 90's Pontiac commercials 'Wider is better'? is it really better for handling? High end pontiacs are wide, Vettes, 911's vipers etc. But Japanese cars in Contrast are not..example..

even the mk4 chassis is not wide, it just has wide fenders. basically an illusuion.

Does it it make a differnce? because these Japanese cars handle very well

i think the wider is better thing was supposed to be more simpler than the direction you are heading towards.

Mk4 track
front 60"
rear 60"

C6 Z06 track
front 62.1"
rear 60.7"

The Corvette is regarded to be wider than most so that is my basis for comparison. The Mk4 seems pretty decent to me.

actually, the MKIV is:

F 1521 mm / 59.9 in
R 1527 mm / 60.1 in

with a wheelbase of 2550 mm / 100.4 in

compared to an 06 vette at
front track (inches): 1577.3mm / 62.1 in
rear track (inches): 1541.8mm / 60.7 in

with a wheelbase of 2684.8mm / 105.7"

it's the ratio as well...

Keep in mind I've seen MKIV's destroy C5's around a track, they're quite mean...

For comparison, the MKIII dimensions are:
F 1470mm / 57.9 in
R 1475mm / 58.1 in

wheelbase 2595mm / 102.2 in

and we're not far off...

basicly the wider the wheel base and the lower the center of gravity the more stability the car has when at high speeds. Also the more somthing weighs the more stabile it will feel at high speeds (120 in a supra vs 120 in a 240) what feels like it is more stable....the supra its heavier, wider, and lower to the ground in most cases

Let's be honest and understand that that's a comparison even beyond comparing apples to oranges.

not to mention untrue... as long as the supra has enough grip, it has 4 tires and has the advantage...

watch the vids from Top Gear when he takes an Atom and tears up a sportbike on their track...
