is this small crack a cause for concern

on the turbo exhaust manifold there is a crack thats small, only the first centimeter or two goes all the way through from where it starts it looks like, i didn't even know it was there until i got it back from ceramic coating it must have been caked with carbon build up the old gasket looked ok as in not rotted out

would have been better if the place that did my ceramic coating told me when they cleaned it up

I believe he could actually drill a small hole at the end of the crack to stop it from spreading if he really wants to do anything about it.

He could do that. That's what they do if there is a small body crack on an airplane. At least at the Airport I used to fly out of.

That would be my course of action ;)

I'd coat the gasket with Copper RTV and ignore it.

Done it to stop cracks spreading in windscreens as well ;)

This is why you don't seam weld shells to strengthen them, you stitch weld them, if a crack develops it stops at the gap.

Seam welding can also warp the shit out of a otherwise straight shell, correct? Or is that just an urban myth?

it'll definitely warp any sheet metal but i seriously doubt the whole shell
