Is this mirror broken?

Got a set of 89+ mirrors from a forum user, the driver side mirror flops around in the housing. When I saw it was doing that, I figured it might set back into place if i mounted it and worked the motor back and forth. No dice. I'm suspecting there is a broken component in the socket inside but hoping that there might just be a loose something somewhere that will make this useable so I don't have to spend any $ shipping it back.
The screw on the bottom of the housing is present and tight as it should be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Here's a few seconds of video:

Can't say I've seen that. I've seen plenty of them (always seems to be one side or the other) where one mirror will "wiggle" a lot from road bumps. I'm wondering if there isn't some sort of gear, or adjustment that has skipped past its acceptable range... don't know about the inside of our mirrors, but that is what it seems anyway. What does the TSRM say, if anything?

On an unrelated note, cool bass man. Gotta take some skill to play a fret-less guitar.

I've had some very slight vibrating at highway speed in my own driver side mirror for about 12 years but this thing moves an inch inside the housing. I can't imagine being able to even see well enough out of it to identify the COLOR of the car behind you, let alone if it's a cop. ;)
I haven't looked in the manual yet because I don't think it gets that far into the mirror but I will confirm tomorrow. In either case, if it needs its guts worked on, I will probably just send it back and get another pair that is actually useable as-is.
Thanks about the bass too.. I love my Roscoes!

You can take the mirror and motor out of the housing by taking out a few screws and then it just pops out. My drivers side mirror was doing that and it was just because one of the ball sockets popped out. I was able to just pop it back together. Solid as a rock now. It was a real pain to get the thing to pop together though, even with it all out of the housing.

Just take the bottom screw out that's in the hole in the bottom of the housing, then push the glass upward and pull it out. I was just looking at one of my spares.

Great tip, thanks. Worked perfectly. Unfortunately, the outside slot was broken off so the mirror no workie. Hopefully my seller is amenable to my shipping it back to him. ;)
