The easiest way to see if a diff is LSD is to turn it.

An open differential will turn easily, while the pinion drive is held still. The other axle will turn in the opposite direction.

It's female? :biglaugh:
(jk...couldn't help myself)

Seriously, it could be the preload on the ring gear is not set right. Or it could be the gear oil you're using...what are you using? Are you getting any clatter at all in low speed turns?

It feels quite rough when turning the input shaft.
The oil is "Valvoline Gear Oil LS, SAE 90 Limited slip gear oil"

No clatter at low speed turns. The noise doesnt seem to change if I'm full lock left or full lock right, just an annoying whine.....

Not good.

That's the noise that my 4.300:1 LSD started making. It just got worse and worse, until I swapped it out for a 3.909:1 LSD from an '88T. It went from a "whining" to a "groaning" to "grinding"

I come from a land down under
Mine all felt notchy turning the pinion by hand and were noisy in use, in my case I was doing 200>250 Kmh pulls and with the shaft speed that high (4.10 diff gears and a tall 5th in the Tremec) I'd accelerate the Oil would slosh to the back of the diff the pinion bearings would run dry for a second and that was it all over....

Happened to a fresh built Torsen and to my old 4.3 LSD, I run a pump and cooler in the 9" now to prevent this happening again (Euro Spec G Diffs have a cooler as an option)

Hmmmm - sounds like it could be a real design flaw. What would happen if you ran a bit more oil than it recommends? It suggests 1.3Litres. What would it mean if there was 1.5 or more in it? Would it aerate the oil too much?

Dunno I suspect it may puke out of the vent in the top of the case under acceleration.

If I was going to run a G series fast again I'd be running a pump and cooler and dump the oIl back in between the 2 front bearings to be safe.

I changed to 3.5:1 gears in the 9" to slow the shaft/pinion speed at high road speeds.
