what turbo do you have?

It’s a stage 2 T3 with 58-59mm compressor wheel and .58A/R exhaust housing.

I think it's a Turbonetics - but no-one knows for sure. I've been told by a reputable turbo shop they doubt it’s a "cheap china" knock-off or "eBay turbo". The only distinguishing features are, its water cooler, the compressor plate is anodized red and the original exhaust housing was a 1.06A/R and coated in silver, from factory.

take the BOV apart and check the workings of it...

make sure it has a good vaccuum source as well..

BOV's are pretty simple designs, so the knock offs are usually fine as long as it wasn't assembled wrong and the shaft isn't rough...

Well I've checked it over and over and over again - and this is the thing:

The red diaphram hits on the vacuum source that's on the rear housing - which stops it from opening properly. I will double check it all again tho just to make sure....
heres the thing stay away from knock offs, i dont have the hks bov, but i did own one for a while about 4-5 years of daily driving on my max with 16psi after that sold it to a kid with an eclipse turbo he's still on it. If you save the cash on a knock off then buy another how much are you saving? You pick up a knock off wastegate then over boost and blow the motor:nono: .

Well true - but my ECU will shut the engine off if the wastegate creeps to much :biglaugh:

or buy the knockoffs for a reputable place that warranties them for a year (driftmotion)

Well thats the thing. Inside these things there's nothing to them. The only thing I can see that's got any wear on it is the small rubber grommet/seal that goes around the shaft, that seals the front section from the middle.

I cant see how this would cause a slow reaction in the BOV's operation.

The diaphram has no holes in it. It's still nice and soft and relixable. The're no leaks anywhere else. It holds boost fine. I'm buggered if I can figure it out. Maybe the turbo I've got is prone to compressor surge....
