I was finally able to take the flywheel off the engine today and saw part of the block missing, see pictures. Just how big a problem is this going to be?

Also have the flywheel if anybody wants it. It's for a five speed and the ring gear needs to be pressed back on. If interested I'll send you a pic.

Do you guys have any editing software?
(maybe force flash or something when taking pics would help ;) )

Block is scrap for a performance application but non performance you could get away with it like that.

like IJ said you can get away with it unless you plan on making some power....

in my personal opinion i would scrap it, no reason in doing something you are not sure about.... and you whenever you drive the car hard you will be thinking about it in the back of your mind hoping that it wont break further. spend 200$ for a new block and be done with it.

Its best to get a good block.

You dont wanna use this block and have this problem crop up in your mind everytime you drive and worry you.
Get a good block and you have one less problem to worry about.

Cheers,
Roy

There are "seasoned cores" on ebay. Becareful with sellers, watch their rating and read the negative reviews. Some of the neg rep is bullshit when you read it, some of it is legitamate.

IMHO it will be fine until you build up a real stout block and go for big power, then you don't cut corners

there are I believe 8 bolts holding everything together, and the top 2 seem to be the most important. Once missing isn't gonna be that bad...
