hey guys Im new to the supra craze got a 89 mk3 supra turbo and im finishing up my build and putting everything together. But tuning wise i myself dont know much about tuning supra's. Im still learning so i dont know where all the good shops and what all the best ecu tuning equipment for my car. I have an apexi safc and a innovate motorsports wideband system aready not installed yet, but i dont wana spend 2g's on a freaking standalone . So i was also wanting to look into ecu map tuning. So like is there anyone around that does map tuning? You know like someone i could send my ecu off to , give them the specs of my car, and them tune my ecu for me and give me maybe for a couple different maps. I know of other companys that ive used do this for my 240sx's, but dont know anyone that does this with supras. Or would the safc and wideband be the best bet?? Help me out guys....

here's my specs
90 Supra turbo targa top built 7mgte, 2mm hks metal head gasket, arp head studs, Greddy Td07 turbo, tial Bv 50mm bov, lexus afm, 550 injectors, greddy reloader intake with mushroom filter, custom intake manifold, walbro 255 fuel pump, apexi 3" Catback exhaust, ralco rz stage 4 clutch, greddy 25r Intercooler, innovate lc1 wideband, go fast bits ebc, apexi safc (air fuel computer),

there was a place out west (IIRC) that was discussed on here a while back that would do the daughter-board tune for the supra ECUs, but it was so expensive that there was little to no benefit. plus, if you change anything, it'd have to be retuned.

standalone FTW.

Nope, piggy back or standalone is your best bet.

Map-Ecu is a piggy back. Any experienced tuner will be able to tune using a map-ecu. Find a local shop that does tuning.

I had my car tuned with a map-ecu by a local shop that had never tuned with one before. If I could of done it over again I would of just bought a standalone.

Well i was looking into map-ecu , but will the basic map-ecu package be enough for a solid tune and to monitor everything?

I had a map-ecu on my car and it worked great. If you want to monitor Knock you will need a map-ecu2 (2nd gen). However, it is twice the price as the map-ecu (1st gen) and sitting around $800. At this point and spending this much money I would buy a standalone.
