Hi i have a 87 Non turbo (Auto)

The problem i have is the car wont start when i turn the car key all the way to lock and let it sit for more then a hour or so, It will start eventully sometimes takes 30seconds or 20min when i turn the key over it clicks and thats it.

But if i leave the car in ACC (only the little digital clock stays on) i never have this problem starts right up.

Im guessing its the factory alarm but in my truck when the alarm ingauges i just press the unlock botton on the door is there anything like that?

you think its the starter? it starts perfect when i don't turn it into lock position and if i do when it finaaly starts it does not have a problem. i can turn to locl and not have this roblem as long as i dont leave it there.

I use to have the same exact issue you described with my 91 corolla, but it would usually act up when it was hot out. I replaced the clutch switch it didnt solve my problems, and the starter relay, still nothing. Then i ran a wire from my starter to my battery cause I got sick and tired of push starting it. And after i put that wire on i didnt have any problems. so when putting the wire in there I cleaned alot of the contacts of corrosion, I took the cables off and sprayed them with electronics cleaner. And my problem went away for about 6 months. Then it came back again after winter was over, but we are talking about a car with 300,000 miles with rust and corrosion up the wazoo.

Maybe try cleaning the contacts on the starter motor, and battery, make sure everything is in order and narrow it down from there.
