do you think that people who like/want the MKIV becuase of all the coverage it gets in mags and movies, but when they see how much it is they settle for the MKIII, that was pretty much the case for me but the MKIII has truely grown on me since i got my first one in 2005 and i wouldnt give it up for anything. its simplicity and class make it a winner

Uh, no.

what are you saying "Uh, no'' to? i know you highlighted a little section there but there was two different points there.

movie and mags: 2001: the fast and the furious: pretty much made the supra an iconic car, and has since been in just about every racing game there is, as well as every kind of tuner mag.

cost: I know plenty of MKIII owners who would love to have a MKIV but is just not in there budget. they can still make a fast car at half the price and still have a "supra" the first true one at that.

I "settled" for the MKIII, but it grows on you a lot...

I still like seeing MKIV's, but it seems that they all look the same...

Growing popularity? Well, judging by the amount of posts, I'd say the Honda guys moved up to the 240's, now the 240's are too expensive and they're moving onto the MKIII's... Seems like they haven't learned anything along the way either...

lol, I turn into a lil kid in a candy store, everytime i see a MKIV, like "OOOHH oh... I want it"

I've been looking at these cars since 2000, never really seen them around. Bought an NA last year, traded it, go back out to the local place where everybody races. People tell me there's a black one, a blue one, another black one and a grey one.

And I'm like where the hell did they come from? Remember everybody what's a newer supra...

Its to the point where i can spot a supra from a mile away... lol

ps does anyone know what happen to that, "101 ways you know your a supra owner" or somethin like that...

well, i dont see how there could be anymore of them on the road. Im sure the number of restored cars is less than the number of cars parted out.

But, maybe they are more "cool" now. I still want a Jeep though.

I dont particularly like my N/A, but i dont dislike it enough to want to throw more money into the engine than the whole car is worth right now, so for now as long as it gets me to school and back, along with a little bit of style, im happy.

The fast and the furious sucked as a movie, and especially from a technical standpoint. I wish the movie didn't exist. It brough the idiot ricers to the name Supra. I highlighted a part because that is what I respnoded to in your comment. But now you have my comment on that suckwad movie.

I don't care for the JZA80. They took from the luxury of the Supra to save weight. And it is ugly as sin. But to be fair, it looks better now. I can say it is withstanding the test of time.

Besides, how is it an influence? That movie didn't even exist.

I just wanted to make sure that thats what you were going for.

EDIT: i grew up around old school big blocks, I didnt know what a supra was till I saw that movie and when i graduated high school i bought a 1991 gray on gray hardtop. for me that was my first real exposure to the car, rice or not.

I would not say there growing in popularity, there just getting cheap now so every kid in high school can afford one. There getting more popular for moding because of all the cheap shit parts that can be had on Ebay made in China. It’s better than getting a civic and has more "tuning" potential.

You can tell just by reading half the mindless noob shit on here and SF that it’s happening.

all the kids im my highschool know the Mk3 supra and now I get comments like "wow im starting to like the MK3 more then the MK4". the only problem being one of the only supra's on the road in my area is the cops. I have never been pulled over but there watching. I got a fuzzbuster and every time i see a cop they see me too.

Mk3 supras aren't so cheap....
Except if you are buying a stockish project car (pour condition) at around 1500-2000 $,and you are willing to do the restoration to it.Which will cost time and money.
Here in Europe they are so expensive....check out a German site at www.mobile.de and you'll get the picture. Clean low milage supras reach the
7.000-8.000 euros (about 9.000-11.000 $)
A good condition 18 year old mk3 costs 2 times more than a BMW or a Benz
of it's age...:sarcasm:

As for the idea that almost everyone wants a mk4 but they setle down for
mk3 cause mk4 are much more expensive is not so true :sarcasm:
Good, clean, correctly moded mk3s cost as much as a stock mk4....
I have spent more than 30.000 $ on my mk3 :aigo: I could have bought my
self a nice mk4 :icon_bigg Or much better...a heavy modded 700 hp RHD mk4from Japan.....:biglaugh::biglaugh:

The only thing that mk3 guys can be jealous of,is the powerplant of the mk4!
Which is normal cause it is a more advanced/high tech motor.Like the mk2 guys who want our (mk3) powerplant...it is normal 2 is bigger than 1!

One thing is true though...Out there, there are some heavy modded (tastetly,not-ricer) with many parts/mods in the interior/exterior/engine bay/performace/drivetrain of a mk3 that can stand by face to face with a
mk4 at the same level.....
1jz and 2jz swaps are famous nowdays on mk3s :biglaugh:

And last...Supras are the only cars that are more popular/wanted by people,
as a used car.....10 years after it's production stopped and as a car it is
more desired knowdays than then! No other car have done such a thing....
One way or other, Supras become legendary...
