Thanks JJ :icon_razz
I took your advice btw and bought a fumoto. I ordered the one with a nipple on it thinking it could clear. It probably could have, till I bottomed out the pan on a rock and angled the drain plug straight down... d'oh!
Not real interested in buying another one now :p

So, still got a brand new one for a subaru sitting here that's gonna get the nipple machined off of it someday.. lol

Thanks everyone. Now I have another problem. The threads where the banjo bolt goes into the block on the turbo feed line is stripped. I saw it leaking today and tried to tighten it up, but it won't tighten. Does anyone know where I can get a bolt one size bigger? If I put jb weld in the hole and retapped it would that work? I am really getting tired of working on this car, but I'm far from giving up. I have only just begun to fight...........lol

Edit: In case I didn't make myself clear. The bolt threads are fine. The block must be stripped. If I can get a larger bolt, I will just retap the block. If I can't then I want to try and feel the hole, if possible, with jbweld and then try and retap it. Don't even know if this is feasible.

Thanks JJ, I don't want to go to prison for using JB weld so I will use the stuff that MKIIIman suggested. Thanks for all the help.............lol

I bought a heli kit today. If I had known this existed, I would have never even thought about jbweld. I've never had to tap into a block before though, so I didn't know. Thanks for the advice Colin, and JJ.................lol

10 quarts will not cause fatal engine failure. It's barely at the crank shaft at that point. (And not the middle of the crank, but out at the ends where the rods are spinning around.)
10 Quarts just puts it so oil can be splashed up by the crank. At lower rpm not a big deal, but at higher rpm, you get the oil roped up around the crank, and actually lose power to move all the oil around.

If you doubt me, take your engine pan, and put 9 quarts of water into it. (Assuming your pan is off the motor of course.) At that point, the "water" is up to the point where it could be hit by the crank/rods. Keep in mind that while your engine is running, there is a good quart of oil up in the head, and draining down off the block and moving parts. If you have a larger filter, or larger cooler etc, there is more oil in those lines, coolers and other parts as well.

On my car, 12 quarts was too much, and 10 is perfect, but for a stock car with a stock cooler and running the longer body 3600 filter, I'd say 6 quarts is fine, and slightly more would be OK as long as you don't get any oil being blown out the PCV system, or dip stick upper tube seal.

Adjuster, if you say it, then it must be true. There's no reason for you to assume that I'm going to doubt you. I have fixed the problem, or am fixing the problem. I'm fixing to start another thread about dumb ass mechanics. In it, you will see the real problem that caused my car to have ten quarts, and it wasn't the oil change place...............lol

JJ, that easy oil peice u posted up, looks cool and all, and for reg. DDs it would be fine, but what about those of us who have lowered our car?
I wouldnt put this on my car, because I do my own changes and will never strip the bolt.
just wandering how much lower it gets to the groud. It looks kinda big.
