Okay, theres a strange and worrying problem with my supra. Yesterday, whilst cruising around at about 40/50mph, i noticed smoke/steam coming from the bonnet. Thinking it was an electrical fault or fire i stopped, opened the bonnet and the smell was like burning wiring or electronics. I didnt think it was a problem with the engine at first, seeing as the oil pressure looked normal, the coolant was well within norms, but later on this morning, i tried driving about 2 miles, and on the way back to my flat, it stalled. Steam/Smoke/Vapour was pouring from the bonnet by this point. Then when i restarted, there was a horrible clattering noise, almost like there was a diesel engine under the bonnet. as it was less than 200 feet to my flat by this point, i braved it.
The oil pressure was about 20psi and falling slowly, the coolant read that it was fine, leaving it for a few hours, it started up fine. No clattering noise, sounded fine, oil pressure was 40psi at idle. Problem is, i'm losing oil and or coolant somewhere. I dont think its a BHG as the oil isnt mixed with the coolant and the coolant hasnt turned any oil to mayo. Theres also no sign along the head/block seam to indicate anything coming out, however there IS oil all over the throttle body and theres condensation all over the top of the intake manifold. Could the PCV system be blocked and causing a pressure buildup & subsequent gasket/seal failure? Else, what about the intake manifold gaskets? The engine isnt down on power either, which is another odd thing.
I'm short of cash, and have only a few quid available. If the engine is totally shafted from the oil starvation (for 200ft, even though it doesnt sound like its got rod knock currently), does anyone have a 7M-GE laying around (sans ancillaries) that they could donate my way and/or fit?
If someone does have a spare engine, or the ability to repair mine, although i cant give money, i'll give you an Opteron Workstation with a flat panel, 1gb mem and a 7600GT and a weekend of free beer.
Anyone able to help?
