But what's the timing doing during all this?

My point is why spend xxx$$$ and XXXhours building an engine then try to increase the power before getting it tuned if there's even a minute chance of it failing?

None of these kids are big budget I'd expect them to be a little more cautious but looking around Supra sites in general that's not the case....

Timing is going to be all over the place with the SAFC setup, he's safer without it than he is after it's tuned with it as it doesn't have timing control.

 seriously?

Ok this is what you do. Turn up the boost and hit the gas, watch the wideband and make sure it doesn't go lean, if it goes lean you lift off the gas, and add some fuel in the safc.

As for timing, ith the stock ecu, lexus afm/550s should be perfectly fine (unless you're pulling a huge amount out with the safc). But if you want to be extra safe, pull 5* out via the CPS and you should be good to go.

Hell you bought the shit why not use it? if you dont want to sell the wideband and thatll pay for tuning time. :slap:

Timing will be all over if you're pulling too much fuel in the range of -35 to -50%. I you keep it conservative and tune it right safc will do just fine.

sorry man. i was having a bad day. i work on cars everyday, so i gotta be in the mood to work on the supra on the weekends. i can get a new a/c compressor through my job for like $140, so i'm gonna save up for that, and then save up for the tune. i'm probably just going to install the MBC just to have it ready but leave it as is until i have the money to tune the car up after i install the SAFC2. but like i said, i was just curious. i'm learning to be more patient since i have SOOO much money into this thing and i don't want to break anything.:aigo:

get yourself a buddy and a video camera. Place the wideband near the S-AFC in monitor mode showing RPM (and whatever else you want) and go for a run while videotaping the gauges. after the run, review the video, and see where in the rpm range you are off target for AFRs. Adjust slightly and repeat.

There's your datalogging and tuning on the cheap.

That's how I tuned mine. It worked like a charm. :evil2: A few pulls here and there and was able to tune the afr.

This is a good idea, I would have had a friend w/ a pad and pen in the passenger seat recording data. This sounds much easier and doesnt require a friend.
