i'm just curious. i was planning to install my manual boost controller and just seeing if it would be safe or not to up the boost alittle without the car being tuned. i have my SAFC2 not installed and no money to get it tuned, so i was just wondering

THANKS!

I was running a little over 8 psi, and I didn't hit fuel cut until I installed my HKS Super Dragger. Even then only occasionally, at wot. Putting on my bigger FMIC after that though, really caused problems. Now I'm back to stock boost levels, until I can get some more money.

ALOT of spray paint

That'll let you raise boost. ;)

Yea Ted You'll be fine. You have everything to Raise boost and use the SAFC to slowly subtract fuel. (This is where you wish you bought a Wideband with Data Logging.) :)

Couple Notes: Make sure Base Fuel Pressure is right and you have the Line for the Fuel Pressure Regulator Attached well.

I am with 1J.
Not only no but hell no
Why would you even drive your car on an improper tune.

Its like driving your car on crap gas & 18psi & saying well my ecu will retard the engine or fuel cut or run on limp mode from the knock sensors nothing bad will happen.

From my experience I would say no. Uped boost to 14psi on a 60-1 ct with lex afm/550's and AFPR safc before a tune. Ran on a cooler night and cracked the ringlands on #6 after a fresh rebuild.

Was a costly lesson to get it tuned before raising boost. (and yes I hit fuelcut that night when it happened)

Little patience now will save you from kicking yourself down the road for not waiting. Also save the wallet.

Regardless, as long as he's on stock fuel pressure and hasn't done anything with the SAFC (like a half ass tune to raise boost higher), fuel cut will still happen to save the engine.

550/lex setup is stable without a tune.

But what's the timing doing during all this?

My point is why spend xxx$$$ and XXXhours building an engine then try to increase the power before getting it tuned if there's even a minute chance of it failing?

None of these kids are big budget I'd expect them to be a little more cautious but looking around Supra sites in general that's not the case....

Umm you have a wideband... why even ask the question.

And why isn't your car tuned if you have a wideband?
