Is it possible to use a 7M distributer inplace of a 7M CPS??

I don't know what section to put this in. There needs to be a Engine Externals / Electrical to match with the Engine Internals / Mechanical.

Anyway.

Can I use the 7M distributer for the G-, G1, G2 and Ne signals. The trigger wheels look the same. Has anyone tried it?

Has anyone wanted to try it?

Maybe someone who has done a NA-T conversion.

I searched all over supramania and the only thing I found that was close was 935 using 7MGTE electronics on a NA but it looks like he used the CPS

For running 7MGTE electronics on a 6MGE. The CPS will not fit due to the location of the fuel rail on the 6MGE head.

Not looking for what alternatives I could use. I know this is the hard way and it is what I am choosing to do.

Was only running it to 6000 and it was fine, Ign ran out of puff at higher boost and was blowing the spark out at tq peak on the rollers.

With a beefier Coil it would have been better, I ended up using it to trigger a standalone and swapped in a different Coil and Igniter then went full sequential shortly after.

I think he means using the Distributor to send the CPS signals, Not necessarily the whole, cap, rotor, coil, wires.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Dirgle: If that's the case sure it has the same reluctor and triggers so I can't see why it wouldn't work.

Would just need to lose the Cap and rotor and make a cover to pretty it up a little.

Darrow: The 7M Distributor has larger bearings and a long pilot that runs in a bush in the head so "should" be quite stable at high rpm once you lose the rotor!

I used one as a CPS with a Hall sensor as the trigger to sync my standalone.

I'm more interested in the signals, can I use the signals from the 7M dist (mine is a modified 5M dist) to run the GTE ECU. It sounds like I can. I just want to make sure before I rewire my engine bay, again.

Nice mod on the dist (dizzy).
