Interested in this as i really dont like the R154 box, its like stirring coal or operating a victorian railway signal box. The W58 was always so smooth...
I know they're not going to hold much more than about 320rwhp, but still, my power goals are minimal - looking at no more than that in its lifetime - looking more for daily driveability and reasonable reliability.
Now, i know you can rebuild transmissions with steel baulk rings and straight cut gears etc - but would it be possible to strengthen the box by doing something like cryo treating the main shaft on it?
When these boxes have disintegrated on turbo swaps, whats been the part in the box thats failed?
Cheers and TIA
