I'm not starting anything haha but I just gotta say...People do have preferences, I'm Canadian and I'm all for imperial, hate metric. If he's got the money, let him spend it and stimulate that economy;)

I'm buying a set of used cams and wont get that liberty first, I'm just curious of what tolerable for cap/head/cam wear, and want to know what to expect when I pull my cams.

Why didn't toyota put bearings there!?! Call it affordable, seems kinda cheap..

I come from a land down under
I was at school during the change over to Metric here so can work in both but still think in imperial for fine measurements.
(ie: 10 thou is easier to visualise in my mind than .25 of a mm for some strange reason)

I think in the same way with small measurements! But Metric is way easier for engineering calcs and is generally the way to go. Except of course for kph, mph just sounds better :)

srry i tend to take things the wrong way quickly when it comes to online stuff (damn xboxlive) but i really appreciate the help and advice i just talked to one of my friends and he said the same thing about the converters online so i will have to bring my engine back to auto and start micing the engine and right now im just looking at getting it running so i can smog it because the original owner just brought it from Florida "WOOT" and never got it smoged, drove it for like 3 years and just let it sit but i made an armature mistake when i got the car. he had the engine replaced and i didn't believe him so i started to tear it down so i got the engine out and low and behold right on the block was a rebuilders sticker so he wasnt yanking my chain but i was too far to stop there so it led me to just rebuild the engine so i can start fresh again but i really do appriciate the help

thanks
drew

did i mention it took me 3 years to talk the guy down from 3,000 to 500 bones so i think thats awesome in its self

Dude, sentences. Make some.

Periods, commas and such make it much more bearable to read your posts. :)

It never hurts to check a motor if you have the means to tear it down, even if it was "rebuilt". ;)

my main concern would be the excessive wear on the journals. putting more power/stress on a journal that is already beaten down isnt really a good idea. like IJ said in the begining, its not the worst but its def. up there.
