I have some $$ I'd like to put away before I do something stupid with it. Whats a good kind of investment, low risk, that I can put this money in so i dont blow it on the car? I was thinking a about just hiding it somewhere where I cant find it, but Im a money whore. This very well may just save my ass someday. My college has been taken care of by the government. :evil2: I dont have any real expensises other than a 200 dollar car payment.

Any help? I know some of you guys do this stuff for a living/hobby. Give me your input!

P.S. Crack is too expensive arround here, AIDS has been ruled out and Darude - Sandstorm hasnt been played.

You could send it to me and ill hang on to it for you. :naughty:

Put it in like a 12 or 14 month CD. I think my rates are like 4.5 %

I was thinking the same as above.

Citibank right now is offering a 6 month CD at 5.35%. Its guranteed by the FDIC up to $100,000. If you're not talking a ton of money and you need it to be fairly liquid but stacked away somewhere, CD's can be a great investment.

If you're talking a ton of money, I would look into talking to one of the brokerage houses (Charles Schwab, Morgan Stanley, etc, etc.) to invest in mutual funds.

Ive got a little over 5 grand in CD's and i keep mixing them up when the time is right. I see a really good rate and i jump on it.

Very easy, flexable way to make some money safely.

If you've got the money, why not pay the car off? A car payment means interest is working against you when you make it work for you instead. If you plan to hold onto the money for 5 years or more, then I would put the balance in a conservative mutual fund. You stand to make a lot more there than you ever could in CD's.
